She was really down on herself at Wimbledon, saying things about retirement, etc. But it seems towards the end of the summer, she stopped talking about that. Now it's an "I'm definately coming back situation." I'm thinking it was in New Haven when she retired against Capriati. I was watching it, and when she started to speak, the crowd stopped her with a standing ovation which lasted for like two minutes. Then she started crying to "Awwwwws" from the audience. I think she was really touched. Ever since then it was like, "Yeah, I'll be back next year." Anyone agree?

I think the way she played at Wimbledon against Venus should have given her confidence to continue more than anything. She blew Venus off the court in the second set when Venus was playing decently well. Then the WS-less US Open probably ignited a fire under her because all of a sudden she had a great chance to win a GS. The fans could also be a big factor like you say at New Haven. The fans there are great which is why Venus probably likes it there.

I don't know, but I wish we knew the whole story. I would hate to hear that Lindsay decided to play until she has pain again and then retire because that will definitely not last throughout next year. We just need an article or a full interview!

I dont think any champion player (Davenport, Seles..) like to go out on a negative, or an injury...and that is Seles' sentiments and probably Davenport, remembering also that Davenport is number 4 iun the world!!!! So with that ranking she has plently more she can do!

Yeah, Number four in the world is no slouch position! That's awesome.. I think Lindsay turned away from retirement b/c of her successful summer.. She may not have won a lot of tournaments, but she was definitely in quite a few finals, despite that pain. She's tough and driven.. I would love to see her come back and win some mroe.
