She was ranked outside Top 150 at the beginning of the season and is top ten by now.

2 tough losses came in the Auckland final and at the Australian-Open, another tough loss to Kenin in February.
Since then she hasn't lost a match (in a complete match, was forced to retire in Miami and withdrew from many tournaments afterwards).

Future #1? 2020?

Maybe 2019. If she wins this tournament she will have 4,835 ranking points. She has virtually no points to defend the rest of this calendar year. Therefore at least 1,900 are available in the Asian tour and 1,500 available at YEC. Thus, voilà you have a No 1 possibility.

42-4. Ret is a loss.

Nevertheless an amazing record for the year.

If Serena doesn't win, it's going to be her.
I think Bianca has the game to beat Serena right now. My bet is on her and JoKo to have the best chances against Serena.
If Bianca stays healthy, she really looks like an incredible talent and a future #1 on the tour.

... and she is so consistant! Look at recent #1 players Osaka, Barty, Kerber, Pliskova, Muguruza and so on. No consitency for a whole year or more.
If Andreescu can keep that level up she'll be the next REAL #1 after Serena.

Bianca is the real deal. She reminds me so much of Clijsters. Firepower and finesse. Very versatile game and likable personality, and thank God she's not being overhyped unlike others who only have beat journey women and now are treated absurdly as if the were the second coming of Jesus Christ.

If Serena and Andreescu both make the final, Serena will have a tough time beating her. She's fearless, plays smart tennis, can pounce on the ball, and throw junk at you. I'm afraid it'd be another easy straight set loss for Serena if Serena starts out slow again. Andreescu is the youngster with the most potential right now. Her game is exciting unlike Barty or Pliskobot.

I'm such a big fan of her game! Yes, she has her lull moments in her matches but you always get the sense you can trust her to figure it out and raise her level during key moments.

Best Newcomer of the Year and Most Improved Player at WTA Awards this year will be very interesting. Many young players stepping up this year.

I don't think the first one will be interesting... it's gonna be Andreescu at 1.01 odds.

Unless they give it to Gauff :SNE:

Bianca currently has 3265 points.. Vekic has a max (if she wins title) of 3990 and if Elise wins title she has 3680

So odds are in her favor but not definite yet
