What a beginning of season for Mara! She's rising in the world ranking so quickly!She's been up 51 places since the year ending ranking...and her 11th position in the Race is the proof than she's playing on fire. Last week, she won her 1rst title on the WTA Tour. So she took the crown in Bangalore Tier IV $175K after a strong battle in the final vs back on form 6th seed/n°50 Jelena Kostanic.

Olga was last week sensation in Antwerp Tier II $600K! She reached her 2nd Quater final on the WTA Tour but the 1rst was in a Tier IV (Tashkent). This time, she first had to qualify upsetting 2nd seed/n°70 Julia Schruff. She continues her run in the Main draw with her best victory on the tour beating 9th seed/n°14 Daniela Hantuchova before falling to 4th seed/n°7 Nadia Petrova. With such a result, she breaks the Top 100 for the 1rst time.

KING Vania:
We already said that Vania was one of the biggest american hope...and she confirmed this week...close to the Top 100 now! For her only 5th participation in the WTA Tour Main Draw, she reached the semi final in Bangalore Tier IV $175K retiring against eventual champion 3rd seed/n°59 Mara Santangelo. She's up 33 places this week.

That 2 handed both sides player won her 10th ITF title and the 1rst of the year in Capriolo $25K. As 5th seed in Capriolo, she didn't face any seeded player for the crown, beating surprising qualifer n°318 Darija Jurak in the final. Lucie is steadly progressing in the world ranking...close to the top 150 now.

Alla won her 1rst match in a WTA Main Draw after qualifying. She beat 2nd seed/n°133 Aleksandra Wozniak in the last roung of the qualies, Tamarine Tanasugarn in the 1rst round of the main draw before loosing to italian Maria Elena Camerin (n°92). With that run, she's breaking the top 200 for the 1rst time.

Almost every week, Elena and Nadia Petrova are fighting for the 7th place. This is Elena's turn with a semi final in Antwerp $600K. She lost against local favourite 1rst seed/n°1 Kim Clijters in 3 sets.

TOP 20:
Francesca SCHIAVONE n°11 (+1):
Francesca is back to her best ranking this week despite a 1rst round surprising loss in Antwerp (loosing to n°27 Katerina Srebotnik)
Elena LIKHOVTSEVA n°16 (+1) and Ana IVANOVIC n°17 (+1) benefit from Flavia Pennetta's slumping in the ranking (n°18)

Eleni DANIILIDOU n°85 (+20):
Eleni is back in the Top 100 this week with a Quater Final in Antwerp Tier II $600K. Due to a weak ranking, she had to play the qualies. In the qualies, she took a revenge on 1rst seed/n°45 Sofia Arvidsson who beat her the week before in Paris. She fall to win her mast match in the qualies against n°139 Stephanie Cohen Aloro (2/6 7/6 7/6!!!). With Mary Pierce pulling out for injuries, she had another chance to continue her run in Antwerp with a bye in the 1rst round. In the 2nd round she ousted n°28 Klara Koukalova before giving good opposition to Elena Dementieva (5th seed/n°8).

Elise TAMAELA n°176 (+28):
Elise is back in the Top 200 with her 4th title on the ITF Circuit winning Sunderland $25K. In Final, she broke english hearts beating british 2nd seed/n°194 Anne Keothavong. Elise continues to play on fire as winning another $25K english challenger and will be close to the Top 150 next week (points in 25K and 10K are added with a week of delay).
