I suggest that we were putting all news, scores, articles about Russian players ( including Juniors ) in this thread. No discussions in this thread, of course. Only info. I intend to create a thread per week. If you find a nice article, scores sheet, anything related to Russian players this week, please put it ( or a link to it ) into this thread. This way we will have some kind of retrospective on what was happening during particular week when we'll be willing to look back in a while.

Some news on ALina Jidkova ;)

From Bob Larson's newsletter...

Alina Jidkova seems to have adopted a new motto: "I don't lose until I beat at least one high seed." At Auckland, she topped #1 Angeles Montolio in the first round. Now, at Hobart, she tackled #2 seed Paola Suarez -- and won 1-6 6-1 6-2. This is all the more impressive when you remember that Suarez beat Mary Pierce at the Australian Open last year. Jidkova, a few years ago, was one of those highly touted Russian prospects. But she turns 25 in a few weeks, and hasn't done much lately. Her star seemed to have faded. Suddenly it's looking bright again. This should be enough to get her into the top 100.

Some more articles..

http://www.sports.ru/today/tennis/13500000000015683.html

Another masterpiece from Mr. Polyakov. His knowledge is again amazing. The following pearls are just..

About Kafelnikov:

"You can imagine that the first match of 27yo sochi resident in the new year ( he lost 3:6, 4:6 to not really strong Australian Scott Draper, failing to convert any break points )."

Well, how could he know about three matches that Yevgeny has already played in Qatar this year..

or

"Kooyong Classic is being played as round-robin, not playoff"

Indeed, it is really details, that it is in fact, playoff, but with consolation rounds..

http://www.sports.ru/today/tennis/13500000000015035.html

An article about tennis from non-tennis person. That excuses unimaginable number of factual errors in the article (like where he reveals that controversial comments from Davenport and Hingis abotu Mauresmo in 1999 came after both were crushed by Mauresmo ). Still, pretty amusing reading. But for Russian readers only.
