I saw a draw on the internet that read:

Martina Hingis SUI (W) (9)

Is it me or does that (W) mean wildcard? How can a WC be seeded?

This also appeared in Uks ACE magazine.

Can anyone explain?

She sure was!

She had not made the deadline, but was good enough to be seeded. It happened at the Krelin Cup last year with Lindsay Davenport to.

yeh it happens a lot of the time where top players decide they want to enter a tournie at the last minute and r offered a WC as a result....
