Rosatello wins her second career title in the 13th final. She really has a hard time converting finals into titles. Maybe she benefitted from not really being able to think about it much because this was the fourth match in two days for both players. There was so much rain that they had to move indoors and had to play everything from R16 onwards over the weekend. Rosatello will go up to a new CHR of #201.

Great week for Bertea as well. She will go up to #329 after starting the year at #699. I had only noticed her recently when she reached the final of a W50 in Slobozia. As gabeeee pointed out she really seems to have benefitted from the big number of tournaments in Romania this year. Hopefully she will be one of many to capitalize on these opportunities.

What a weekend for Cami!!
The clay tournament was moved indoor yesterday and she won 4 matches in 2 days 🤩 :
Tsygourova 64 64
(4)Bulgaru 62 64
Ibragimova 64 75
Bertea 57 63 64

It's only her 2nd and biggest pro title of her career in singles (whilst she has 42 in doubles, just 3 less than Sarita)

Very lucky how it all went, she took advantage of her powerful game to thrive on indoor hard... I really doubt she would have won otherwise, she often lacks stamina on back to back fights on clay.

She now reaches her best ranking #201 at 30 years old,
this will allow her to play qualies at Grand Slams next year!
After beating Sabalenka at the Us Open (unlike Anisimova) she is coming for Iga's wig now! :boxing:

Could only watch the decider but Bertea was spent physically through it and allowed Rosatello to serve bombs left, right and centre. What a week for Bertea though, the semifinal win against Rus was especially note worthy as she lost the first set 1-6 and came back to win, no easy task for a debutante on hard indoor facing a WTA veteran whose game also fits the surface rather well! I do believe Ruxandra could get into RG qualies if she keeps this pace and schedules smartly, no need to get over ambitious now, just stick around at W35/W50 until the ranking gets in slam qualies bracket and then aim higher.

Congrats to Rosatello as well, NCH after this run which should get her into qualies at all the slams next year, she’ll sure have nice memories from Bucharest. I liked how she hugged Bertea at the end even though she didn’t really have a reason to, it was nice to see.

Maia Ilinca Burcescu might be another one to keep an eye on, 15 yo but rather tall already for her age, she put up one hell of a battle against Bertea herself yesterday and wasn’t far from pushing the match to a decider. Burcescu beat Craciun in the first round which is also note worthy as Craciun is in the top 400 and 11 years older while Maia barely had a ranking prior to this week.

The records will say it’s a clay title for Rosatello, but it turned out to be an indoor hardcourt event (obviously due to weather). Great for her to capitalise on the change, considering her game is more suited to faster courts. She was moving towards doubles specialist territory about a year ago, so good to see her perseverance in singles pay off
