I went today.

I scribbled a few observations about, well, two of the matches really, but is it worth saying anything when I could upset the only person in this thread who really cares? Oh well, let's post. Sorry.

Tauson v. Rosca was last singles match, barely started by the time all the others had finished. (This actually causes a bit of a problem, as the lighting is motion activated, and the adjacent courts go dark and then someone has to go on them and dance around to turn the lights on again.) Tauson was horrid. I don't know how she avoided being coded, with her indiscriminate f-bombing, and on a couple of occasions swearing at the umpire directly.

In the game at 1-1, Tauson hit a serve Rosca couldn't get near."Out", said the umpire. (I saw it inside the service box, not that that proves much with my eyesight, but likely the players saw it the same.) Rosca walked to the other side of the court to concede the point. Never seen that at this level before. Far too decent of her (and, some would argue, unprofessional). It was also a big mistake against this opponent, as Tauson tried to extract further concessions throughout the match. Rosca perhaps realised her error (and her opponent certainly wasn't going to make the same mistake) and didn't concede any more whole points, though there was a quite similar incident where an "ace" was called out, and Tauson went off on one again and managed to get two serves out of it.

Raducanu vs. Kostova was the match I most wanted to see. Raducanu fell and retired last week, but I never heard exactly what the injury was. No visible taping this week. The standard of play wasn't that great, I wouldn't say. Raducanu brought a lot more to court, but wasn't very accurate, at least in the first set. Kostova was very whiny. I don't know if that's just what she's like or if she felt particularly hard done by today. At 1-1 *40-0, Raducanu hit a ball way long and umpire awarded her point and game. I think Kostova must have patted the ball down or touched it before it bounced, though I didn't see it. Kostova wasn't pleased at that. A bit later in the first set, a ball came across from the next court just as Kostova was in her service motion. Raducanu said wait, Kostova served, umpire called let. Kostova wasn't impressed with that either. (There were a couple of other ball intrusion incidents where Raducanu was winning the point as the ball was intruding, and those were not given as lets.) Kostova demanded to see the supervisor. I didn't think she was serious. However, after I wondered off and watched Dissanayake for a couple of games, when I came back, this match had barely moved on, so I think the supervisor actually was on court. (Would have been at 3-0 second set if you want to find it in the recording, assuming there is one--p.s. yes there is, Huhu has posted it.)

As Raducanu played a backhand winner to go up 4-1 in the second, she collapsed on court clutching her calf and lay still for quite a while. She eventually got up and went to her chair. A medical timeout was called. Kostova objected (not strenuously). I didn't grasp why; possibly she thought it was cramp.

I'm not sure how serious the injury was; there wasn't any obvious discomfort, but Kostova played so poorly in the last two games that it wasn't really tested.

Thaks for the report @otary

And don't worry, Jorn knows all about Clara's temper and moods. She can be quite bratty to put it mildly. Amazing player though. I'd hate to see her turn into some sort of Puintseva or the like.

I wonder if Raducanu's injury is related to the ret. you mention last week?

Clara and Emma will play on Court 7, we danes wonder if we can watch the match? as the camera today and other days were from C5 and C6?
I'm 99.99% sure it'll be streamed. Both men's semi finals are on at the same time, and then the women's will follow on, but they've made sure that there'll be one court between them to limit balls flying across as much as possible. I'm pretty sure they have changed camera courts in previous GB W25 when they have reached the latter stages, and this match also follows one of the UKs other best prospect Jack Draper, and there's no way (surely) the two best local prospects for some time's respective matches won't be streamed, while an all Dutch men's match will be - they'd have put those 2 matches on Court 5 if not.

I'm thinking of going to the venue as I live reasonably near, but you shouldn't have any problems :)

I went again today. (I've no plans to go tomorrow, btw.)

Tauson was much better behaved, and (coincidentally, I imagine) played more impressively.

Raducanu also played better today than two days ago, though Hogenkamp's heart didn't really seem to be in it. At one point, R got told off by the ump for unnecessarily returning a ball to the next court(*) that had come to rest in the tramlines between Hogenkamp serves. H asked for her first serve back, rather reasonably I thought, but didn't get it. R's left calf was taped today.

Fett not consistent enough against Tomova. I couldn't really get into the Murray match. (Hesse blew the first set tiebreak, which, in the event, may have decided the outcome)

(*) I think more likely due to a slightly obsessive nature than gamesmanship on Raducanu's part.
