Why is this list so weak compared to recent ITF 25K’s?
WTA Lyon qualies start next weekend so most players want to get there early and fresh after playing the past few weeks in France.

Surprised there's no Elsa J here. With her being on the Q list, but not the Q draw, I thought it was nailed on that she would have had a MDWC here. Perhaps she's got wind that she has some sort of WC into Lyon and opted not to play.

Not the best field in the world, but one or two interesting enough younger players. 3rd quarter possibly looks the weakest, and there's not really any obvious standouts in the Qs to come in and boost the section. I still see Fett and Galfi's names and think they could be something, but time and time again it's R1 or R2 exits, so I think the ship has kind of sailed as far as solid top 100 careers go. I guess Galfi is still reasonably young, but still...

Doubles draw is out and this is a perfect opportunity for Em Webley-Smith and Sofia to win a 25k with such a weak field, and the possibility of not playing next week (Not making Lyon main draw)

I see Smitkova landed in the 3rd quarter that I was referring to ealier. She has been out of form for a while, but has obviously played at a much higher level in brighter days, so she could maybe be one to look out for, and she has drawn Fett in R1, so an interesting enough match there, relatively.

Also missed this one earlier:

Jule Niemeier (GER) v Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (FRA)

There's admittedly not a great deal of competition, but that one could be the best match up of R1. Both would have probably fancied their chances of doing quite well here, but obviously both now can't.

Busca withdrew from doubles as soon as she moved into Doha qualies. Not convinced she plans on hanging around...

Hard tight loss for Paula Kania to Bassols Ribera, she was obviously here to give singles a try again as she has not entered doubles this time. Having her in main draw could have been interesting.

Why did they play both rounds of qualifying today?
I'm wondering the same, as they play only 5 main draw matches today, none involving a qualifier.

Seone Mendes ended up talking advantage of that withdrawal, and with a WC / surprise qualifier in her way in R2 - there's probably nothing holding her back from reaching the QF.
