This will be the key tournament I’m following in this gap Fed Cup week. I was hoping to see Coco V and Townsend here though...

Barthel is a mess, so many double faults and errors, her second serve is really weak. Perhaps its because she hasn't played since Gstaad, but it was poor.

Not surprised Errani was knocked out 1st round by a virtually unknown local - even at her best indoors was difficult for her.

Great to see Shelby, Irina F, and Yanina through, although not happy Barthel lost.

Attended yesterday. Got to talk to Falconi again and met a somber Barthel (in between singles and dubs) and nice Brengle (who said she's never heard of this site lol). Was inches from a pissed Errani who was on the phone post-match. Also journalist Nina Pantic was there...never thought I'd see so many familiar faces in person.

Watched end of Errani loss, then Cako/Whoriskey doubles win (have also seen Caitlin there several times), Rogers impressive win and Falconi come-from-behind.

Rogers probably looked the best of them yesterday.

No I wasn’t either and Harrison is double handed of both sides as well. However errani didn’t hit as many double faults but one thing I noticed is the serve is mental for her every time she throws it up and catches it she mutters and because she’s thinking about it the rest of her game is being affected.

Brengle has been knocked out first round - possible hangover from the previous week & perhaps did not adjust well to change of conditions from outdoors to indoors.

Defending champ McNally on the other hand breezed through to the 2nd round.

Watched the 2nd set and Errani was trying really hard, competing well. But the serve is just a liability and the fast conditions here just don't suit her at all.

You going to be there all week? Always loved the super fast surface in Midland, makes for a refreshing change. Thanks for the reports and info tidbits ??

She did but then lost in straight sets to Mateas (another qualifier) in R1 yesterday.
Was hoping she would draw a higher profile opponent on a streamed court. Get to see if her fathers behaviour has improved or not too ?

No, it's a bit of a drive so I just go up 1-2x each year. Usually just once.

Judging by her (and both her parents') subsequent conduct on Youtube, Twitter and facebook, the answer to that would be "definitely not"
