The W 25K ITF event in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, clay outside.
( The little island off the west coast of Africa is where CSN was born and raised)
Kanepi def Hogankamp 6-2, 6-2 and Sherif def Niemeier 7-5, 5-7, 6-1
Kanepi #101 and Sherif #132 were the top two seeds and will meet in the final.

Kanepi , the 35 y/o war horse, has been ripping apart the 25K events in the last part of the '20 season. She won in Cherbourg and Istanbul. Now she is in the final in Las Palmas and keeping her ranking up.
Sherif ( Maiar Sherif Ahmed Abdelaziz) 24 y/o has also been on fire at the end of the '20 season. She won the 100K event in Charleston and is now in the finals in Las Palmas. In in the French Open Sherif got thru the qualies, but had bad luck in playing Ka Plis in the first round losing in three sets 7-6, 2-6, 4-6. Sherif is 22 and 4 on clay this year.

North Africa now has two WTA players doing well this year with Jabeur ranked # 31 and Sherif #132 and moving up.
It has probably been a long time since two North Africans were ranked this high.
Below is Sherif.

Can Sherif still get enough points for AO direct entry?
Probably depends on winning the big ITF 100K event in Dubai starting Dec 7.
At the present time no one knows what's happening with the AO. Will a number of players skip the event and more important, will the AO even be held.
