Welcome to Gold Cost, Australia: host of the Tier III, $170,000 Thalgo Australian Women's Hardcourt tournament. The Thalgo Australian is the first tournament on the VWTT calendar. Top players from all over the world have travelled to Gold Coast to make their presence on the tour and are all vying for the best ranking, going into the Australian Open, which is quickly approaching: only 2 1/2 weeks away. Being that this is a new tour, all players are starting from scratch, and will have to work their way up to the top and prove themselves all over again. Will Venus Williams, Lindsay Davenport and Martina Hingis be vowed the Queens of the tour or will up-and-comers Jelena Dokic and Kim Clijsters or past players like Jana Novotna take over the thrown? These questions will all start to unravel this week, as the VWTT season has has now began. Get ready to roll: it's game, set, match time! Enjoy your stay at Gold Coast, and good luck to all players participating!
