Vera choked in the tiebreak vs Gasparyan, but this was worse. Her mental game is worse than her physical game
Her actual game is good. She has to stay calm and play like its any practice match

Bit in a shock still here, did not expect her to lose this one, especially when 62 51 up. With her experience she should have brought this over the line. Sad to not see her in the MD :(

There is a 50% chance Vera will be in MD after all, as there are 2 MD withdrawls, Teichmann and Riske. Later today it could be announced.

So, grass season is here and Vera plays Eastbourne this week. She is in MD for Wimbledon already, so no need to look for her in QD there ;) .
She qualified for MD in Eastbourne after beating Ferro and Mladenovic in qualifying, she plays Kasatkina in first round. Good luck Bepa!

Vera was up 51 then lost a ton of games and retired. She has no luck staying healthy for the big tournaments that she makes the main draw for
Really needs her health next week

Vera withdrew from doubles so lets hope she can play the major
It would be so unlucky to miss it after making the main draw

Official injury is a left hip injury, but could mean anything. Just precautionary, or something serious. Did you see the match @goldenlox ? Was there any obvious sign of an injury?

I didnt see it. I knew Vera was up 51 and retired early in set 2
Its so unlucky to get injured right before being in a slam main draw
Thats $100,000 if she wins 1 round and the potential points if she wins a few matches can get her into every major for at least a year
A hip could be serious

She is still in the MD, so hopefully it is not too bad with the hip injury. Vera has drawn Bouzkova in round 1.

If Vera is healthy, that is not a bad section to be in
But she has to be healthy and play well

I hope she can play. Part of this comeback was winning a US Open in doubles, but for real success she needs some singles wins at majors

Yes, both were struggling to keep their serve in set 1. In the last games Vera struggled as well to keep it. Hopefully she can quickly fins a break to finish this today without having to play too long.

Vera serving for the match at 75 54. She has to close these kind of matches out
She should have won set 2 in the St Petersburg SF.
This is just as important to close and get to round 2
