I'm sorry if this has already been posted and is old news, but I just read on Yahoo that Venus has pulled out of Toronto with the same abdominal strain. Get better, Venus and Serena and Amelie and LINDSAY, hell everyone!

Here is the article:

Williams, Rubin, Stevenson pull out of Toronto tourney

August 7, 2003
TORONTO (AP) -- Venus Williams pulled out of the Rogers AT&T Cup on Thursday, citing the abdominal strain that has bothered her since May.

Williams' sister, Serena, withdrew earlier from the Aug. 11-17 hard-court tuneup for the U.S. Open.

Chanda Rubin (right shoulder tendinitis) and Alexandra Stevenson (right shoulder strain) also said Thursday they won't play in the tournament.

One of the players moving into the main draw is Maria Sharapova, the Russian teen who made a surprising run to the fourth round of Wimbledon as a wild-card entry.

French Open finalists Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne highlight the Toronto field.

omg, this is getting worse by the day

I dunno how injured Venus is, but we could either have her lose early like RG or have have her not show up at all :(

I hope she's feeling better by the Open and is in good shape to play.

Otherwise, how many Americans are going to watch the Open?
No Serena, possibly no Venus, possibly no Monica
Lindsay and Jen, you better learn to start beating Kim and Justine again soon or the ladies final's gonna be moved to the mid afternoon

When did Amelie pull out? I didn't see any article like that.

Actually, I think this is good news for the Open. Since Venus knows here sister won't be there, she wants to be 100% to particpate.

is she still in New Haven>

Venus can still come out and win without the warm up tournaments.

PS - Kim is gonna be shattered by the time the Open comes around after all the tennis shes been playing!!!
As far as I know, she didn't enter and I doubt she will enter now. If she didn't play Toronto because of the abdominal strain I don't think she would take a chance of making it worse in New Haven.
