I know I have always thought Venus had the worst luck. Everytime she has gotten on a roll since she came back in 2004 something with her body has slowed her down. And Venus has said several times she is a rhythmn player so if she gets in a good rhythmn from some matches and confidence she plays better.

But in.....

2004- After like a 19 match winning streak on clay she twists her ankle. In Berlin SF. Still won the match withdrew from Championship didn't look the same at the French a week later.

2004- Tiebreaker mix up at Wimbledon

2004- In San Diego had just lost to Davenport in Stanford Final in 3 set, was whooping Lindsay's butt in Sand Diego's SF 5-0 first set. Hurt her wrist lost the set 5-7 Didn't play again until US Open struggled in form lost to Lindsay in 4th round.

2006-After notplaying since Aussie Open does ok on Clay to get in position to do well aty Wimbledon injures her wrist loses to Jankovic out the rest of 2006 after trying to come back in Fall but hurt them again smh.

2009-(Even tho I think it was self-induced by her schedule of hard, clay, hard) Venus win Dubai, wins Acapulco, goes to Miami with injured knee the knee is basically a problem the rest of the season. Wrapped like a mummy the entire Wimbledon and US Open.

2010 (repeat of 2009) exact order. smh

2011 comes back in January after just playing 2010 US Open, Is playing pretty well considering the circumstances. Loses injures herself in that 2nd round. Gets diagnosed with Sjrogrens.

2012 - finally managing her disease well and is in improving form....injures back in warm up...smh

You cannot say she has the worst luck (at least she has 7 slams, lots of players can only dream of having her career) - just look at Petrova, or other less achieved players who are struggling to win matches consistently due to various injuries (or they need to retire because the injuries force them to)

Or worse still, Nicole Vaidisova. At least she lucky Stepanek is not a scientologist, I guess.

Get a grip. The woman is a multi millionaire and has access to more funds than you will ever see in your life. Has her own clothing line and will be remembered alongside her sister as an iconic tennis player.
If only I can have some of that bad luck.

I so agree! Venus is worth over 50 million dollars. She could retire now, but will still be remembered for her greatest. She has nothing to prove now.

Venus will be alright. Her body is still adjusting to the courts. She hasn't played much tennis. She had a few clay court matches and then on to the grass, and now the hard courts.

Venus is just beginning her come back. It took Maria over 3-4 years for her come back. Venus is not doing badly considering she's only been back and has played a few tournaments since her come back.

Adjusting to the hard courts is not always easy and it's taxing on the body. This is Venus' first hard court tournament and she'll be fine. Petra, Aggie, Serena, Na, Sam and all of the other players have had wins on the hard courts. This is Venus' first on hard courts other than playing for the WTT and those courts are different than the tournament courts.

It wasn't Venus' energy that let her down it was her body adjusting to all of hard play and jarring for the body and knees. She'll be alright.

If the WTA and the USO tournament directors can be a little more patient, and I think they are; sooner than we think the are gonna have their next come back story in Venus. They haven't had this type of a come back story since Jennifer Capriati.

Part of being a tennis player (or any athlete for that matter) is staying healthy. I wouldn't consider her injuries unlucky, she just needs to be more careful since her body is fragile. Just look at Federer (gag), part of the reason people consider him so great is because of his ability to stay injury free for basically his whole career.

What revisionist twaddle is this?

Venus is fine. She may be getting old & maintains a less intensive tour schedule (which makes her less fit than she potentially could be) but other than that she's OK, as she herself no doubt will admit.

A reliable indication of her OKness is that she has never missed any of the slams for the past 5 years except twice. That's probably a better record than the 5 years before that.

It's fun that you mention it. Tom Cruise divorced from their wives when they all were 33, and each wife is 11 years younger than her precedent. First was born in 1956, second in 1967, third in 1978, and the hypothetical 4th was born in 1989. Guess what's Nicole's year of birth? :oh:

Ok I didnt say this to say Venus has the worst luck of any player. I was just pointing out sometimes I she gets unlucky with an injury when she starts finding form. Some of yall take things to such a whole other level
