Venus Williams has confirmed she will compete in next week's Generali Ladies tournament in Austria.
The world number four pulled out of Moscow's Kremlin Cup and has not been abroad since the terrorist attacks in America on 11 September.
But she sent an email affirming her participation to organisers of the WTA tournament.
"We're obviously very relieved," said tournament organiser Peter-Michael Reichel.
"The global political situation is very difficult for everyone right now - but after this e-mail, I'm convinced Venus Williams will come to Linz."
Williams said she planned to arrive on Tuesday and would be accompanied by her mother, Oracene Williams.
In addition to Williams, the tournament will feature Jelena Dokic, Elena Dementieva, Justine Henin, Sandrine Testud and Nathalie Tauziat, and Alexandra Stevenson.
