Yes, that is going to be some piping hot tea. I know that there was some issue at the LV show at Fashion week where there was no reserved front row seat, which should have included LR because he was there with Zendaya and styled her for it. That alone should've ruffled his feathers, especially if they made like he should've just sat wherever when he was suppose to be in a reserved front row seat.

Did you see that the internet was trying to suss out who the awful member was who didn't see Viola's movie but made all those terrible comments? The last I heard, they'd decided it might be Vince Vaughan, but I don't think so because the description was something like he'd been in some "laudable" movies (which reads, to me, British period piece or something). Whoever he is he needs to be removed from the voting body. I started watching the broadcast and suffered through the Jimmy Kimmel 20 minute monologue with all the unfunny jokes jabbing at Will Smith. Sure, we're suppose to put up with all your long, unfunny bits and jokes (the donkey, Malala) but they play the music when the woman filmmaker from India tries to speak after winning for their documentary. Maybe less comedy and more time for the winners accolades.

Like the trash Academy, FW people (from NY, Paris and Milan) are messy. Law Roach has styled some of the most iconic looks in the last ten years (I absolutely LOVE his work with Celine Dion) and the industry is going to be worst without him there. Everyone looking the same or busted will show them.

It's funny that the right wing hate Hollywood so much. It's a business that offers surface level diversity but generally upholds WS (I'm abbreviating cause I'm sure the mods will edit if I use the actual word). I mean look at the number of years between WOC winning awards. Only 2 in 92 years!? And they aren't slick. They awarded Halle's and Denzel's the same night and then basically were like black people there now STFU. And they did the same with Michelle and Ke Huy. That voter revealed what they are. Your supposed to be happy with the crumbs and then shut up.

Was Law Roach the one in that twitter clip that Zendaya sends to the second row? I saw that making the rounds but I didn't know who that was. Awful if true. But then the fashion week events have also become showcases for celebs and influencers.

exactly, the academy thinks they're slick, but they just pick their tokens for the year so they can't get called out directly and we still have travesties like lifetime white savior movies like green book making it into the conversation

it was like in 2019 when parasite got a bunch of noms and the farewell was completely snubbed, there was only room for one "asian" movie apparently, not to mention the farewell getting recategorized into foreign language film at the globes when the central story is about a chinese-american girl :tape:

Yes, that's the clip. Z looks around for a seat and points to an empty one right behind her. LR just said on twitter that he and Zendaya are not ending their relationship, so maybe he'll be styling her again soon. But these fashion houses that think they can pull together looks need to take a step back. It's a whole different muscle. Law Roach takes what the designers offer and accessorize from head to toe to make the clothes and the person look amazing (think Venus in that Elie Saab goddess dress).

It's like the publishing industry. People think , "oh you wrote a book, I bet you made a lot of money" but that's not how it works. Even once you figure out how to write a book (a good one with all of the elements--characterization, plot, setting, pacing, etc.) then you have to write a synopsis (condense what the book is about in a single page that makes an editor want to read it), then write a query where you condense it down to a paragraph so that an agent will represent you for 15 percent of the gross contract, THEN figure out how to market your book and yourself without making everyone you know or have ever met not run screaming in the opposite direction every time they see you. In other words, not so simple and Law Roach does that for fashion. Think of the way Andre Leon Talley was treated in the industry and I think LR has decided it won't happen to him.

It's hard to say and likely only a decision you can make. I would assume good tickets will be in short supply the closer to the event we get. The grass season is so short that I assume UK tennis fans snap up tickets pretty quick?

I am waiting for that tea to be spilled. He did mention the politics and lies so it must be messy. Honestly the fashion and entertainment world are just stank. I was done with the Oscars after the overreaction to the slap last year. And they only confirmed that was the right decision with the leak from that voter attacking Viola Davis without even seeing her movie...
Yeah, I know what you mean but thanks for your thoughts I'll discuss with my sister and let you know what we decide.

Not only training in London but...... getting thirst trappy as well????.... is this a 'look what ur missing' to Eric? :smoke:

Leisure Flooring Shorts Recreation Elbow

I'm just playing y'all. 💛 But thanks for the insight and clarification of her bio @acelovesvenus. I had totally forgotten about her random Croatian training block. Wonder what was up there?

I feel like Venus has always responded to a distinctly 'American' type of coaching (of course, she is American). Technical specifics and precise changes sometimes seem to go out the window with her :hysteric: but she's really into motivation, champion mentality, self-improvement, all those kind of clichéd quotes that rev her up. She's a real 'jock' at times with that stuff but it gives her a lot of belief.

I say this to say, I think she WOULD respond more to a Rennae Stubbs type of coach who will maybe give her a few technical adjustments, some scouting/strategy for the match, but mostly motivate her and hype her up. Rather than someone completely overhauling technique at this stage of her career. :unsure2:

Stubbs not only helped Serena, she made Pliskova look like a watchable tennis player and even brought Sam Prehistosur to a pretty recent hard court final (she narrowly lost in 3 against a rising Kenin).

To be transparent,

What did Eric do for Venus' game? Her last season with David was better than her 3 years with Eric.
To be fair, I think injuries and age have not showcased the true potential of Venus and Eric’s partnership. It would have been interesting to see if Venus could have snagged a slam in 2017 with Erica as her coach. Her losses at Wimbledon and the US Open seemed mental as the game was there. I do think Eric encouraged her with better tactics and strategy heading into matches, but injuries have basically sidelined her the last few years.

Lol what is going on there? Is she training tennis or just working out?
She's training for tennis but is it for the grass swing or clay swing? Someone on Twitter said that Louis Cayer, the LTA's Senior Performance Advisor, is meeting with Venus this week about a potential coaching partnership but Louis will remain in his role with the LTA as the role with Venus will be on a limited\Part Time basis which is an 18 month contract so that would mean that Venus would be playing in Nottingham and Birmingham and still play next year right? 🙏🙏

We all have our fingers crossed for you honey. :) One thing I'll say is there are often a lot of ticket resales these days when people can't go. So if you can't commit now @Queen V with the other players on the entry list, there may still be an opportunity closer to the date (Reddit, FB marketplace, buying tickets outside the stadium, someone was selling Rome final tickets on Insta today even).

It's a good sign she's over there considering she's not going to Miami and the tour will move to Europe in a month for clay / grass. We can probably rule her out of Charleston. I would love to see her play a full-ish grass warmup schedule (just to have matches before Wimbledon), although I don't know how realistic that is.

TBH at some point she stopped listening to David Witt, and at least her and Eric seemed to be trying different things despite them not working / not having a run of health to execute them. But retooling is a lot at this stage. She needs a hype person, strategist, and mental coach more than anything.

Birmingham - something doesn't add up. The ticketing shows limited availability on all days but then the crowds in previous years...

Naomi Osaka as world #1 (look at the end for the handshake especially):

When you say limited availability what do you mean and is this a error from the website?
Have you seen Venus' IG story she's at Wimbledon will this be her comeback tournament or will she play warmups?

Thank you so much but I can't rely on that and I'm not sure now because of Venus' IG story which shows her at Wimbledon so I don't know if she'll play any warmup like Birmingham or will she just come back at Wimbledon?
