The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design announces that on March 20, 2003, probable cause was found to issue a Notice and Order to Cease and Desist against the unlicensed design firm of V Starr Interiors, which is owned by tennis star Venus Williams. V Starr Interiors is located in Palm Beach, Gardens, Florida.

Ms. Williams has a licensed interior designer on staff; however, V Starr Interiors has been operating and offering interior design services since April 2002 without a license for the firm, which is required under Florida law. After being notified of the investigation, the firm has begun the process of obtaining a license.

After reviewing the evidence, the Board found probable cause to issue a Notice and Order to Cease and Desist and will require Ms. Williams to execute an affidavit that she will not offer interior design services through her firm until properly licensed. If Ms. Williams fails to return the affidavit, an administrative complaint seeking fines will be filed.

This is rather interesting. From my understanding, many of the "other" ID's in Flordia started complaining when Venus hit the market. According to the report, Venus wrongly announced that she was an "interior decorator", without the proper designation and state registry. Afraid that Venus would take the lion's share of the market, the "other" ID's in the state reported that Venus's action. I believe Venus's defense is that the lady that handles the actual design IS an ID, with the proper registry.

This story is indeed old. She hired Syracuse, NY native Bonnie Nathan, a full-timer in that business, and it's just procedural stuff now.

I read an article where alot of interior decorators in her area were getting jealous of Vee being able to get clientele right away. They were saying that she was not a real interior decorator because she is not licensed. However, she has people in her company who are licensed so that's not a problem at all. I chalk it all up to pure JEALOUSY. Vee has gotten clients off her name, and she is causing a buzz about some of her designs.

Vee will be fine.

A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued, along with a request that Ms. Kowalski sign an affidavit stating she will no longer provide interior design services unless the business is properly licensed. If Ms. Kowaski fails to return the affidavit, an administrative complaint seeking fines will be filed.

interior design is a FULL TIME job, every cribb is different and so are the client's requirements. Venus ain't designing shit

that other chick is doing the design work and Venus just lends her name in order to sell it at a premium

I dunno. I had read Nathan, so maybe one is her maiden name? She could be Bonnie Blair the skater for all I know.
