A hard battle for most part of the match, Wang was just a little step above. And really resilient, as she didn't even look tired at the end of the match.

Great job to Wang, it's about time we had her in the fourth round of a grand slam. I'm looking forward to the Barty match even if it would require a stunning upset for Wang to take it.

Good effort from Ferro, who wasn't a million miles away. Who knows what happens if the first set had gone her way. Excellent run for her at her first ever US Open regardless.

Now finally can people stfu about her not making the 2nd week of a slam? We ALL know the worst top 20 player of all time is easily Varvara Lepchenko especially considering she's the broke man's version of Sharapova in terms of meldonium usage. :rolleyes:

Controlled, smart play from Wang to win this after a slow start. I love her game, especially they way she analyses her opponents and figures out how to beat them. Ferro hits a big ball but Wang did well to move her out of position and take time away from her.

Next match against Barty will be tough but she has nothing to lose.

Some much needed points to take some of the pressure off in terms of defending her fall points. Nothing to lose against Barty.

Ok, but she beat Dolehide, AVU, and Ferro to reach the 2nd week. Of course she can only play who’s in front of her, but let’s not act like this was some amazing effort. If this was the draw she needed to finally do so.... well....
Hopefully Barty ends this mess.

Wang is a good person. Easy to root for. Hope she beats Barty, who'll roll over for Serena. Qiang will too but I'd prefer her to make the QF.

Nothing more logic for her to reach her first 4th round in slam, since she's ranked 18.

here's her ranking progress since she plays slams:

2014: 100 ---> R2 at the USO

2015: 114 ---> R2 at the USO

2016: 73 ---> R2 at the AO, FO, USO

2017: 45 ---> R2 at Wimbledon

2018: 20 ---> R3 at FO and USO

2019: 18 (with a career high at 14 last month) ----> R4 at the USO

Average rank of a player reaching second week at slam: 16.

Q: Who will blame a player for her "poor" record at slams when this player always had the results expected from her rank?

A: Jerks.

For all the talk she can only play in weak tournies in Asia, she reached 2nd week in all the biggest US tournaments this year (QF in Miami, 4R in IW and at USO also, at the very least). Not so bad I'd say.
