If Martin/Ginepri or some other spare American were playing...wouldn't be the case, I'm sure.
I'm not surprised - the U.S. Open snubs the dubs, you can't really expect better from the networks. Even with the Americans, the doubles doesn't get shown until the final. The only reason it was considered to get shown was because Navratilova is a tennis legend and star.

Unfortnately, doubles doesn't bring very good ratings in the USA, so don't look for very many matches unless there's nothing on...

So far the only doubles match they've shown here was Kuznetsova/Navratilova versus Raymond/Sharapova.

Da backhand... would you just shut up? I have a right to criticize their coverage and I will continue to do so.

Something tells me you don't like seeing foreigners, women, gays, or blacks.
No sorry I won't shut up as a messageboard is there to express opinions. Yes you have the right to critisize their coverage, but I find those accusations of sexism, xenophobia stupid.

And yes you're right I don't like seeing foreigners, women, gays, blacks, they have to be white heterosexual male and preferrably sexy, if not I'm not watching.

They bring in the ratings,
if you have the right doubles team.

I remember hearing that V&S's doubles match at Wimbledon 02' versus
Pascual/Suarez brought in bigger ratings for NBC than the men's final match.

I'm sure if you had someone like Roddick/Blake,Fish, or Agassi playing doubles they'd show that at any round over a ladies single match.

I was going to mention that.

Realistically, the players that are known among the general public as doubles players aren't here, and the better Amercian teams aren't here.

Who are the doubles 'stars', from an audience perspective.

Williams 2X - Neither is here
Hingis - retired
Kournikova - not here
Davenport - no doubles this year

Navratilova - Who WAS televised

The people WE might watch are just not household name in the States.

Lisa Raymond - If she was paired with Davenport, we might get to see it.

Clijsters/Sugiyama and Ruano-Pasqual/Suarez are great fun to watch, but unknown to Americans.

But the star power just isn't in doubles this year. Except the old lady.
