Great win vs a bogey player from 6-7 1-3 down!

Pliskova needs to get on the treadmill and work on her fitness, looked worn out in the third set.

Unfortunately, Konta will lose to Svitolina in the next round, but still a good event!

Konta BHDTL today was on fire:drool:

Good job. Didn't expect to make it through after choking away the 1st set and being a break down the second...cool staff.

Not the first time Kaja has bottled big lead at USO. You'd think she should be able to close out the match leading set and 3-1. But then again, 2016 final demons will be there forever. Not even her massive serve can help.

Konta's resurgence since the clay season is one of the most impressive things of the season. She put her head down and just kept working.

As for Pliskova... if you listed all of her individual parts of her game in text and on paper, you would think she would have won multiple Slams in this era. Then you actually watch her play.

Choke from Konta in the first set could be slightly forgiven with the way she came back to win the match. But that still tells me she ain't ready to win a GS.

She was pretty good overall though besides that choke, hitting her groundstrokes really well and returning decently too. But those mental walkabouts and missed drives and smashes at the net were quite comical, tbh.

Pliskova, same old, same old... fights through her first three rounds not playing well at all, then runs into a decent opponent in R4 and loses a tight third set. Against Muchova at Wimbledon, and now here at USO. That service game at 5-5 was dismal, and frankly she's done it so many times now late in final sets that she needs a mental coach to fix this problem.

Konta has a chance to make SF against Svitolina or Keys.

Always enjoy close matches like that, one slip up in the final set making all the difference, Karo's service game at 5-5 was bloody awful.

Jo was the better player mentality and physically towards the end of that match, just about the deserving winner.
