9 girls in qualies is amazing. I can’t remember the last time we had such healthy numbers. Maybe early 2000s?! If Birrell was healthy enough to play and Bains stuck around, it’d be 11

Some decent first round draws there. Mcphee and Hives have the toughest draws on paper. Lizette has a tough one too against a recent WTA finalist, but on hardcourt she can certainly win. Hon should get revenge on Tan.

All up, a few of them should get wins on the board*

And Arina beat Stollar 6-4 6-2 , so that’s 5 from 5 so far

Fantastic showing, one of the best in recent times, surely!

Des still to come today. Anything can happen with her. She takes on Shimizu who bageled and breadsticked Lizette a few weeks ago.

Liz really struggled from 3-0 up in the third. She was barely moving and serving without jumping, still managed to win somehow

As others have said, it's great having so many girls around the ranking to play grand slam qualifying. It was still very recently when we would only have one or two! On top of that, the girls are actually winning matches, and we have a healthy representation in the main draw too.

It would be nice to see at least one qualifier. A really pleasant surprise would be one of them beating Rybakina.
