Dear players,

the US Open is one of the four tournaments, which will count towards the Olympics and could give you important points in order to qualify. We currently have a 16 player draw in mixed doubles, I suggested we could also expand the draw to 32 players, given some players will only get to play singles as they don't have a second player from their home country to play doubles (or only have a Computer Player to play with, which means fewer points, just like in Fed Cup) to give them another opportunity to play for a medal. But pretty much no one commented, so we might keep the 16 mixed doubels teams ;):p

This is the current mixed doubles rankings, keeping the nationality rule in mind. I suggest EVERYONE to enter Mixed Doubles, if you want a spot at the Olympics ;)

12 teams will qualify directly, 4 teams will be awarded a Wildcard. I like the idea of Wild Cards, especially if we have newcomers, players with surprising results, GS runs, etc. In 2016, the players council gave their votes on the Wildcards, but I could think of a public poll and a thread collecting all the players who want to apply for a WC and have a voting afterwards (e.g. players presenting themselves why they should get a WC). The WC's could be very based on recent results, nationalities (current host nation player, experience, former Olympics winner/runner ups, GS singles, doubles and mixed doubles champions, etc.)
