First Round
Pam Casale-Kathy May Fritz d. Mima Jausovec-Joanne Russell-Longdon 6-3, 6-3
Wendy Turnbull-Robin White d. Linky Boshoff-Mortlock*-Ilana Kloss 6-2, 3-6, 10-3
Rosie Casals-Ros Fairbank d. Anne Smith-Pam Teeguarden 6-4, 7-6 (5)
Olga Morozova-Kathy Rinaldi d. Lori McNeil-Virginia Wade 6-3, 6-4
Good showing from my favorite, Linky Boshoff. She and Kloss won the women's doubles in 1976, and Linky retired from competitive tennis at the end of 1977 at the ripe old age of 21. As far as I know, this is her first competitive venture -- at least on a major stage -- since she retired after winning the South African Open singles, doubles and mixed doubles in 1977! Go Linky and Illana!
