I am not sure where you are going with this, but I get the impression you are just using it to keep hammering home that all Islamic countries are uncivilized, so no big deal.

Clooney is speaking out on this latest outrage because it is happening now.

In all your posts here I never heard any concern for the possible victims of the new law, but just a repetition, over and over again, that nobody should be surprised when Muslims act uncivilized.
i didnt know russia was islamic country. read a few posts backwards.

nope, clooney just wants a few headlines and attantion thats all, he know pretty well That homosexuality is a crime punishable by death in a number of countries in the world so suddenly it jumps because of Brunei? He is aware and knows very well that it did not start in Brunei and did not end in this lonely country and therefore I called him a hypocrite.

Anyone who has a little heart and a little brain will feel worried about the situation. I do not need to mention the obvious that I was worried about gay men, especially when I told a few months ago that my sister came out of the closet.

and no im not surprised at all that every country that follow the sharia law act as uncivilized

first of all, it's so annoying when someone is speaking out and raising awareness about a topic, and people's only reaction is "but what about that other thing!". no. we're talking about THIS thing right now.

secondly, it's especially non-productive in the case of clooney, who's been political on all different matters both privately and in his work. so i fail to see in what way his call to action is "ridiculous" and he himself is a "hypocrite".

what he's saying is that all consumers should be aware that in the end it's them who have the power. a single person's decision on what they spend money on does make a difference.

I wonder why people want to make a big deal about their law? If you don't like or agree with it, just don't go to their country and have sex (if you're gay that is!)
Also, Brunei is an Islamic country, so their population majority is Muslim people, so I am very sure they are well aware of what their religion is, including what they can or cannot do or under their shariah law.
what about the people living there?

People can always move out from Brunei  There are Sabah and Sarawak, or even Kalimantan nearby. While it could be troublesome for them to be who they are there in Brunei but it's not like they totally has no chance to flaunt themselves, even the article did mention they can always go to the nearby cities for clubbing or do whatever they like, as long as they are outside the Brunei border and not get caught. I'm sure people can adapt to some changes especially for their 'survival'.
It's not like Brunei is an ideal place to live anyway.

Guys, this is why is important the social media outrage and celebrities speaking up. It’s helpful.
I agree. It's easy to say, oh boycotting the hotels or speaking out won't make any difference but here is a concrete example of how it has made a difference.

So, the sultan backed down! Did Clooney have anything to do with that?
