Hi :wavey:

Which Q does everyone want for Vee?

I think the winner of Ngounoue-Townsend would be scrumptious watching.

Liu or Hsieh would be nice as well.

I wouldn’t mind a schooling for young Fruhvirtova or Andreeva :)

Errani :scared:

Love the cheering thread my friend! :cheer:

Venus to avenge Hsieh's qualifying loss! :bigcry:Hibino is not ideal IMO, one of those girls who has no standout weapon but is solid enough at everything - who normally give Venus trouble. Not much pace but she can move the ball around, and also played decently in the other desert tournaments this year. Hopefully she's tired from qualies and Venus can take advantage of her softer serving and groundstrokes.

On the bright side: Errani vs Osaka in the first round is going to be essential comedy viewing. :lol2:

Agreed. While Venus could overpower Hibino, Hibino will be a bit of a nightmare if Venus is off.

I'd have preferred one of the players who'd have tried to go toe-to-toe with Venus. When Venus is 50 playing Wimbledon, that still won't be a smart tactic.

Great thread title!

I'm so torn about her scheduled time. I feel like she tends to be cold/stiff for nigith matches lately. But she won't have to battle the heat at least.
It's only a high of 24C/76F tomorrow. Indian Wells in March doesn't get super super hot usually. I'd much rather her be playing at 2PM to give her ball a little bit extra.

This is what has me a bit :scared:

Venus with too much time to think can overthink and overhit at times.

My favorite matches of hers are usually against players with some zip on their balls.

Still though, this one should be on Vee's racquet if her movement isn't too hampered.

Such a heavenly draw if Venus had at least 1 match under her belt and if we could trust her health. :bigcry:

Her hitting on these courts was sublime the last few years that she played here. She was chewing the girls up with her FH. Hopefully she can summon some of that magic and use the slow conditions to her advantage. Get that footwork correct, plant in the middle of the court, and tee off.

I‘m so excited to watch her and see what her game is looking like. I’m still WET from that Peaknus serving in Birmingham. Hugo made a cute impression on her game last year despite her leg being in shambles. I wanna see what he can do with hopefully a healthier Venus now.

Don't flood your underwear for nothing, sis!
Getting wet at ten-year-old receipts is an unbecoming Sister @HaplessPossum tea.
Though some more Peaknus serving would be delicious :coffee:

I agree with @RIPwtaworld - It's a player who will get into a nice rhythm absorbing all the pace against her, but at least it will be on Vee's racquet a bit more. Hopefully she is finding the court and clears her in straights like she did with Katie Volynets last year (though Nao's patterns are a bit smarter and she has less topspin).

Is that picture of the ball real? It looks like an ancient artefact from the 1995 Williams Sisters McDonalds Tour exho days.

Oh no it's raining guys and I was actually gonna stay up to watch Venus tonight. I'm keeping an eye on the weather, the rain isn't gonna stop until 11pm do you think they'll make Venus play late? I know Toronto did in 2022 or will they put her on an early slot tomorrow I'd prefer that than catching highlights but if she plays late I'm ready to watch the highlights.
