Does anyone know how much it costs to put on a tournament/build tennis facilities? Is it cheaper to build/maintain clay facilities/indoor/grass/hard court?

Was reading about the large number of clay internationals and was wondering whether or not cost was a significant factor as to whether or not there are a large number of clay internationals- are clay courts cheaper to build/maintain?

Grass courts are the most expensive to maintain certainly (source = they go on about this every year during the UK grass season, and it makes sense since you have to keep the grass cut/watered/fed/etc) - I'd assume the maintenance is cheapest on a hard court, because the surface will need very little upkeep (source = logic?)

As for build costs... no idea at all!

Well I know over the past 2 years at the Western and Southern Open, they have built a lot better player facility and they said it cost them $22M dollars

Maybe not the best example, but that's the only one I know :lol:
