Now I understand why Angie called Andreescu the biggest drama queen ever. Not the result I wanted to see yet I am so happy that Bianca is back. Please now make a SF run please!

I like Genie's new coach and the crowd was absolutely supporting darling Genie slightly more than Andreescu even though Bianca is the home girl in Toronto.

Genie actually played her best match in ages, but once Bianca dusted the rust off, there was no way Genie was going to beat her... just too much power.

:cheer:

It's interesting when you compare her to someone like Stephens - who has more raw firepower and hits a heavier ball, but Andreescu tends to remain on the front foot despite her lighter ball while Stephens can play on the back foot when nervous or tight.

Expected result. I'm surprised Genie even won a set. Just checked her results and she hasn't won a match since Dubai in February and is on a 9 match losing streak.

Still, the Match has to be played. Never easy playing a Countrywoman.

Genie in the first set reminded of her in 2014. Taking the ball early and not being backed off the baseline. She was also clinical in attacking Bianca's serve.

Bianca seemed nervous, rusty, whatever it was in the first set. You also have to imagine returning from injury played a part. Once the second set started she missed a whole lot less and her talent took off. She just has it all. Talented shot maker, the variety, her movement is incredible. It all showed in the last two sets where she was undoubtedly in control.

In the post match interview she said she was feeling great with no pain at all. I really hope she was being honest and she is fully healthy. That's what I was paying attention to most during the match.

Overall it was a great match. Genie showed up and obviously wanted it badly. Bianca is just way too talented.
