Hoping for a good draw, like Fernandez for example, so she can scalp Slowanne as well :eek:h:

Xinyu is currently struggling in 25ks in Thailand, so maybe her time hasn't come yet ;)

Important win for Xiyu! Only her 3rd career win against a top 100 player, I think.
4th, beat both Kuzmova and Pera in Wuhan last year, and then of course Puig earlier this year. This is her first real significant win since Puig in Miami, although she did take a W60 title in between. Ysa was also a decent win (she was 109), especially as she was a set and 1-3 down, so did well to come back.

Xiyu is 18 and is still learning. There's no rush here, it takes time

Gets WC Kuznetsova in R1 who has hardly played recently and has no wins since May, so apart from Leylah, that might have been the best placement.

Gauff is 3 years younger and has made the second week of a GS.......Xiyu is actually one of my favorites, along with Shillin Xu and Xinyu BUT Xiyu has 3 MD wins ever (?), has yet to qualify or even play in a GS MD and has no no top 5/10/20 win.....and again, she's already 18. So basically she's done nothing noteworthy on tour to even garner some of the attention.

A better example would have been Swiatek for making a tour Final and a GS second week, or Juvan for winning a GS MD match and pushing Serena to 3 sets at Wimbledon.

R64: vs. Kuznetsova. I would say that Wang Xiyu (182 cm/70 kg, being a fresh junior USO champion) has more than just a good chance against the 34 year old Kuznetsova.

R32: vs. Vekic (No.25) or Keys (No.17). These are more in-form players, but rather inconsistent. Xiyu can win with a little bit of luck, so why not? www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jfkaf70SYM

R16: vs. probably Halep (the fresh Wimbledon champion). Looking like the End Station. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSNT6U0IPkc
