I just thought it'd be interesting to look at the top ten's UOS record going into the USO. Minus Serena of course.

Here goes:
Venus Williams (36-4) 97'-02'
(F,SF,SF,WON,WON,F)

Lindsay Davenport (42-12) 91'-02'
(1st,2nd,4th,3rd,2nd,4th,SF,WON,SF,QF,SF)

Jennifer Capriati (25-11) 90'-02'
(4th,SF,3rd,1st,1st,1st,1st,4th,4th,SF,QF)

Magdalena Maleeva (18-11) 90'-97', 00'-02'
(1st,2nd,QF,4th,4th,2nd,1st,3rd,2nd,2nd,3rd)

Amelie Mauresmo (14-4) 98'-99', 01'-02'
(3rd,4th,QF,SF)

Kim Clijsters (10-4) 99'-02'
(3rd,2nd,QF,4th)

Chanda Rubin (17-12) 90'-95', 97'-02'
(1st,2nd,4th,3rd,1st,4th,1st,2nd,1st,3rd,3rd,4th)

Justine Henin-Hardenne (9-4) 99'-02'
(1st,4th,4th,4th)

Daniela Hantuchova (4-1) 01'-02'
(1st,QF)

Anastacia Myskina (3-4) 99'-02'
(2nd,1st,1st,3rd)

Hopefully all of them will be able to compete.

Serena: (26-5) 98'-02'
(3rd,WON,QF,F,WON)

Look at that record of Venus! Damn, not even Steffi´s record at Wimbledon wasn´t that impressive!! Says here: A healthy Venus wins the Open without even trying!!

I think Lindsay's being very underrated this year and her record explains why. If Venus isn't healthy, the players with the best records here are Lindsay and Jennifer. I'm a Justine fan, but I wouldn't be at all suprised to see both of them eclipse the hyped Belgians.

The thing what makes an even great favourite is that the last two players to defeat her at the Open aren´t even in the draw: Serena and Hingis. Lindsay defeated her once there, but we all know about Lindsay.

True.

I think if she's healthy enough,
with her record, she can take it.

seles has as good a record as any of these punks-- here's hers.
53-10 -- QF 4r QF QF QF QF F F -- -- W W 3r 4r
that's latest-------------------------------------first
but do you realize that venus and steffis stats are for just their first six years of a slam? not 12 slams.

VENUS dominates the U.S.Open even more than she does Wimbldon.

VENUS will play and win this year now that baby sis is not entered. :)

bla bla bla bla...records are history...this is the present!!!

players get better, other players disappear from the scene.

you're nothing with a good record if you're not totally fit you know
True, but there are records and then there are RECORDS!!! Besides it ain´t like Venus is a thirtysomething and stuff...Venus is still the queen of hardcourts and grass.
