Well, I saw Amber play when they aired the NCAA Champs. on ESPN. She was decent but nothing great. I don't think she has a shot against anyone in the top 10, especially against the world #2.

Wow...I said that 4 games for Liu if she was lucky. Liu has nothing to threaten Kim. Amber doesn't have a big serve, no punishing groundstrokes...she better go back to college and not turn pro. She needs to hone her game a lot more before she can even think of top 50.

Lisa RAYMOND (USA) d. Angela HAYNES (USA) 6-4, 6-2

missed it

Francesca SCHIAVONE (ITA) d. Eleni DANIILIDOU (GRE) 6-3, 6-2

missed it

Marie-Gaianeh MIKAELIAN (SUI) d.
Meghann SHAUGHNESSY (USA) 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4

Great match. Meghann got shafted on a couple calls, but Marie is playing extremely good tennis. She makes relatively few mistakes.

Maria VENTO-KABCHI (VEN) d. Alina JIDKOVA (RUS) 6-1, 6-3

I don't understand why Jidkova wasn't playing better. She started the week off with so much confidence, but she just didn't have it today in singles or doubles. I sooo was pulling for her to go deep in both draws. However, she was continually keeping the ball up in the air rather than keeping it down on her opponents and though she did a good job at times changing pace rather than trying to hit with someone with a lot more power, she just didn't do it often enough. Kabchi has to be playing her best tennis right now. She moves very well and has great power.

Cara BLACK (ZIM)/Lisa RAYMOND (USA) d. Jennifer CAPRIATI (USA)/Daniela HANTUCHOVA (SVK) 7-5, 6-1

I only caught the first set to go watch Alina-Marion play doubles, but Jen just couldn't carry the team enough to beat such a great team in Black/Raymond. Once again, Dani, get mad for God's sake. :fiery:

Yoon Jeong CHO (KOR)/Francesca SCHIAVONE (ITA) d. Marion BARTOLI (FRA)/Alina JIDKOVA (RUS) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4

Marion/Alina were owning them, and were up 3-0 in the second. I started chanting "baaagel....baaagel" like the moron I am and I think that I jinxed them. :fiery:

Marion is a damn good volleyer. You best believe that. She's got very good reflexes and skills. I see lots of good stuff from her in doubles as well as singles. Alina did a good job taking on the leadership role, but as I said above, she just wasn't there and kept playing as if she was scared. She's better than that, IMO.

EVENING SESSION

STADIUM COURT

7:30 PM
Amber LIU (USA) vs. Kim CLIJSTERS (BEL)

I don't know what in the hell happened here. Amber played like a seasoned veteran up until tonight. She seemed a bit nervous. Kim was sensational, even after Amber started trying to put up a fight in the second. While I agree that Amber has some stuff to work on, I wouldn't say that she's far from being top 50 material. She just was really nervous tonight. People really felt sorry for her and she got a lot of attention.

Followed by
Teryn ASHLEY (USA)/Abigail SPEARS (USA) vs. Meghann SHAUGHNESSY (USA)/Rennae STUBBS (USA)

Meghann and Rennae just had no chemistry tonight while Ashley and Abigail make for a good team with awesome chemistry.

I didn't take a lot of pics. The good thing is that I got a couple autograph's from Dokic tonight. :) It's a good thing that they didn't really advertise the autograph session 'til later today.

I'll post some pics in the morning for those that like checking them out.

Uh, well Snyder is ranked No. 159...I guess that's an achievment considering Liu is ranked lower than Snyder. I've seen Liu play more times than anyone on this board...I'm not saying she's horrible, just saying that she has a lot to work on before she's going to be successful on the tour.
