At the Australian Open baltacha, na li and mirza headed the "surprise third round appearance" headlines.
who are the girls you expect to reach the third round for a first time in RG?
now it's all about the draw - but then again, it's "only" two wins. so who can string some points together to upset, or rather which "granny" is finally going to stay in france for more than 3 days?

I'm talking only about players that have still not passed the second round, or *very* special cases.

I'm not sure how much of a surprise they were - certainly looking at Li and Mirza's draws, a 3rd round prediction wouldn't have been shocking if you'd known how talented they were. Spears and Diaz-Oliva were probably more surprising - Spears had to beat Golovin, and Diaz-Oliva had to beat Dulko, and those were genuine upsets.
