Yes it is unfortunate, but soon no one will remember appart from those who are psychologically imbalanced. The player who wins will go down in history and that's all that matters.

MartinaI - I see where you are coming from, and part of it is true. However, I can just see whenever the player who won this years Us Open is mentioned, is followed by 'but the two most dominating women were not there.' But come on, we all know what the prize money is, and I'm sure the winner won't care too much ;).
I think if Kim wins her first Slam here, she would have won it with two of the other players out... while Justine, Linds, and Jen have already one at least one, therefore there wouldn't be a big deal if they one another without the Williams' in, as all three have one a major in where they beat one Williams.
