Wow! I was totally shocked when I saw the draw! Lindsay Davenport was given a 3rd seed, behind Kim and Justine, the numbers 1 and 2 respectively. Venus Williams is the 4th seeded player.

This is interesting!

If Lindsay can hold court, she will probably get JHH in the semis; and Venus will have Kim. Lindsay has to believe that she has the overall game to easily defeat JHH on hardcourt. Plus, she will definately have the fan support.

The most interesting factour is she DOES NOT have to play a Williams in order to make it to a final. With Serena being out, and Venus being ranked number 4, Lindsay, for the first time in five years, could possibly have an Open without facing a WS! Wow! Incredible!

I say the Davenport team is wiping its eyebrows now.

I wonder if she's already made out her $1,000,000 bank deposit slip!??????/

I hope that Lindsay does win the USO, but she does have a mental block where Kim is concerned and Justine is playing amazing tennis, also Amilie is a huge threat, although she does a good record against Jen so she doesn;t worry me, but it will be interesting to see who she draws.

You have to wait for the draw to come out. She has just as equal chance to meet Kim in the SF, and if that is the case, Davey can pack her bags to go home, because her Open will be OVER.

One things for sure- Lindsay Davenport is not winning the US Open... so it doesn't matter what she's seeded. I don't know who will win but I will bet a huge sum that she ain't winning- sorry Lindz fans...and btw, I don't think Venus is winning it either

Davenport's got to his Open in the bag! She's only allowed Kim to win those smaller tournaments, so that kim would have a committed since of superioty. Little did she know that she was being set up!

I think you may be jumping the gun a bit. The draw isn't even out and the seeds follow the rankings, so obviously Lindsay would be seeded 3rd. You have to remember that she is injured and it could flare up any time, also Justine and Kim are playing much better than her and the last time they played the Belgians beat her. It's all about how you play now in tennis. Really Lindsay will be lucky to make the semis in my opinion.

I think that Lindsay has a good chance of making the final if she's in Justine's half of the draw.

Granted Justine won their last match, but it was very close and even though Justine is a better player now, I think that Lindsay has a better, in fact, still a reasonable chance of defeating her.
