Draw is not so bad, it is always no easy way out, so Jen will need to produce some good matches. Possibles: Marissa Irvin, Shut-up-ova, Elene Demetieva, Venus, Justine, and it is all doable!

One question I have - how come seed #20 got to play qualifier in first round and #6 seed did not?

Cheers,
Eugene

Random selection Eugene. There is no preference on who gets a qualifier to the extent that on occasions 2 qualifiers can meet in the first round.

News today suggests Venus is looking doubtful. She's already said she's not 100% but some reports say she's pulled out. IMHO, I don't expect Venus to withdraw before the tournament starts - I strongly suspect she'll play at the very least. What happens then is open to suggestion but like with Jen in Oz this year, true champions will give their all no matter how bad they feel and this is a great occasion. Either way, I think we'll all be monitoring that situation with some interest.

Let's see: My guesses (til Round 4 because I have no idea how the draw has changed since Venus' withdrawl).
R1: Cristina Torrens Valero
R2: Marissa Irvin
R3: Maria Sharapova
R4: Elena Dementieva

ED wouldn't be in the semis. EDs in Jens quarter section, so that'd be fairly impossible.

Justine would be Jen's semi final opponent.

Bad news, good news. I did not make to the Sunday practice (cause my work), but keep my hopes to be at the Open during this week. I am just trying to figure out when to catch Jen's matches. Seems Jen is not playing on Monday, does she plays on Tuesday? Morning or night? If I will know, I am there!

And Jen IMHO has great chances, but it will take a lot of focus, hard work and great matches! Go Jen Go!

Ta,
Eugene
