Totally off topic but it never ceases to amaze me how people on this forum who don't speak English as a first language/aren't British know pretty obscure sayings such as this.
I've been hearing it for quite a while on this forum, tbh. Maybe a native English speaker started using it and it just stuck.

It seems like there's a lot you don't know about.

I hadn't notice but then I don't read the forum much. People like to pick up on words and phrases though and then they get overused as if there is only one way of expressing things. Maybe this is/will be another.

SF1 Thoughts

Song One – A1 - Six Feet Under

A great start to the semi. I am pleasantly surprised by this! Love the beat.

Song Two – Meltdown - Alien Autopsy
the vocals are some of worst things I've ever heard. I would have a meltdown if I had to listen to this on repeat. Song title is fitting.

Song Three – Shonen Knife - Banana Chips
fun song. not my type of song but it woks well. it could get pts

Song Four – En Vogue - Giving Him Something He Can Feel
cute song. the first song I've heard of en vogue

Song Five – D.A.N - Curtain
a calming song. I really enjoyed listening to this

Song Six – Madasun - Don't You Worry
sounds like any 2000s girl group song [which isnt a bad thing]. I've never heard of this group before but I liked this song.

Song Seven – The Rapture - Echoes
not as bad as i thought it would be

Song Eight – And One - Enjoy The Unknown
this semi is holding up pretty nicely! Even the genres I don't usually like have great songs :D

Song Nine – Lucie,Too - Falling For You
Silent Bird would love this. Good song.

Song Ten – BFF - Girls Against Boys
the song reminds me of 2000s rom coms

Song Eleven – Five - Human
i run out of things to say in these, but i like thisss but it does drag a little

Song Twelve – Sleater-Kinney - Hurry On Home
it's alright

Song Thirteen – Step By Step - I Always Wanted To Be In The Band
not my type of music

Song Fourteen – The Pussycats - I Want Your Love
lol i thought this was the pussycat dolls. in another game this might get pts but this semi strong

Song Fifteen – Sister Act - I Will Follow Him
i did not expect this here hahah. i like it

Song Sixteen – dvsn - In Between
i adore dvsn. I think they are very underrated. Love the song. Probably my favourite from this semi so far.

Song Seventeen – The Veronicas - In My Blood
this was on my shortlist. this is not on the level of untouched and on your side but it is up there. I really like the drop

Song Eighteen – Honey Ltd. - I've Got Your Man
the song got stronger as it went on longer

Song Nineteen - Aly & AJ - Joan of Arc on the Dance Floor
This song has popped up on my daily mix on spotify a few times and I enjoy it every time. I am loving the return of disco, 80s influences and synth into pop these days.

Song One – replaced with A1 - Six Feet Under
I think it's still the same track as previously in the YouTube list :)

no
(superbland. in one ear, out the other)

Sleater-Kinney - Hurry On Home
yes

It's so sad when an artist or band has a fine career churning out one strong album after another and then after like 20+ years they decide to sell out to the company. Hearing that album I felt the same disappointment I felt hearing Beck's "Colors".

The Pussycats - I Want Your Love
yes
(the youtube image alone screams shved, doesn't it?)
In what way do 1940s Hollywood actresses with green skin "scream shved"? Errr...thinking about this....don't answer that. ;)

Honey Ltd. - I've Got Your Man
yes
(lee hazlewood was The Man)
Yeah, Lee Hazlewood was The Man!!! Ain't that the truth. (Where are those bowdown & not worthy gifs when you need them?)

I wish I liked this Honey Ltd song, but I don't particularly! I stupidly sent one of their songs, Silk and Honey, for a Girl Group game all the way back in 2014. They lost in SF.

The Sleater-Kinney song was one of the highlights of this disappointing SF.

There is one song there which really stands out, it may or may not be the one I sent. :'oh:

The Rubens - Live In Life

maybe
(i blame tame impala that this is what „alternative rock“ bands want to sound like these days)

Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath
yes
(the drum programming alone is better than beyoncé’s whole solo career)

Sister Sledge - Lost In Music
yes
(this had not been submitted before??? and also: no pointer sisters in this game???)

Junip - Your Life On Call
yes
(did i mention jose gonzalez in the SF1 review? what a coincidence)

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry - Monkey's on Juice
yes
(wiki says they were from leeds, but i think they really were from belgium)

Foals - My Number
yes
(their last fairly good moment before their downfall)

A R I Z O N A - Nostalgic
no
(the album sold 200’00 copies in germany, 500’000 in the US. kill me)

The Flirtations - Nothing But A Heartache
yes
(expected more entries of this kind)

MUNA - Number One Fan
maybe
(self-conscious mild fun)

Ofege - Ofege
yes
(another potential winner from africa?)

Grupa 220 - Osmijeh
yes
(beat pop par excellence)

The Pussycat Dolls - React
no
(weren’t they just great role models for young girls?)

Kabul Dreams - Sadae Man
maybe
(good for them)

Ace Of Cups - Simplicity
yes
(i just love hippies sometimes)

Fifth Harmony - Sledgehammer
no
(the nicest thing i can say is: at least it’s not a cover of the peter gabriel song)

KISS - Thou Shall Not
no
(always hated them)

The Temptations - Treat Her Like a Lady
maybe
(those suits are smashing. sure fire 12 from DropShotAce)

Les Fizz - Trois filles pour un garçon
yes
(trois filles pour un garçon … ah, the cheeky french are at it again)

Well, never was a fan of KISS but that song worked with me. I loved the riffs right away, and if the verses at some point sounded gross, then came a solo that took the whole thing up for a full blast. Fully enjoyed that track in the end. 10 from me.

Ratings sent for both halves already. 😉
