The TF Pick The Best Song Game – Game 29 – The 60’s - Congrats to salmon pants.

The TF Pick The Best Song Game – Game Twenty-Nine – The 1960’s
(based on an original idea by sfar)

OK here we go with Game Number Twenty-Nine - The game is very easy to play:

1. Send me a PM with any song from the 1960’s- along with the You Tube link if possible.

songs of the 1960s :)
2. When the deadline is over, I'll post all the songs in the thread (without the name of the user who sent it) for everyone to vote.

3. The song that gets the most points wins the game. In the event of a tie the song with the most 12 points will win, if that number is the same then it's the most 10 and so on.

I had loads of potential entry, but one artist I'd been meaning to enter several times in the contest already, so I'll choose that, hoping that np-one's taken it yet (well that would mean Adey only I think :p)

Re: The TF Pick The Best Song Game – Game Twenty-Nine – The 1960’s - Nominate

It's finally happening. :bounce:

This will be another really good one. Along with the Girl Groups game and the 2014 game that's three very cool contests in a row. Like the Girl Group game this one will be very tough to select a song for as there are hundreds, no thousands, of great options available. I will have to give this one a lot of thought again.

Truth is the standard of music this decade was out of this world and I am expecting a ridiculously high quality and competitive game for this one. There's going to be a lot of amazing songs I suspect. :D

One thing to remember about music is that it often takes quite a few years before a record gets properly evaluated. For a culture to collectively assess a piece of music is something that requires a lengthy period of perspective, and it is impossible to do under the influence of the contemporary media. Good music, generally speaking survives, bad music dies, it might take a generation but eventually if a song isn't up to scratch it gets forgotten. If it is good, it gets remembered. There is music from the 60s that hasn't been remembered, it's true. But the music of the 60s that has survived, has done so for a very good reason, it's good, it's extremely good. I really do have little doubt, people will still be listening to Motown, The Beatles, The Shangri Las, Bob Dylan, The Kinks, Lee Hazlewood, Stax/Atlantic soul, The Velvet Underground, The Beach Boys, Serge Gainsbourg, The Rolling Stones and many many others in a 100 years to come simply because this music is really is f***ing amazing and it will remain so. This game will kick ass. :D

Not a 60s specialist, but I'll sure find a fine song for this game.

This competition is stressing me out. Too many choices :sobbing:

Maybe we could have a 1960s Mach II competition sometime in the future :sobbing:

For me, music absolutely PEAKED from 1966-1971. So many of my potential nominations are from then, it's crazy :tears:

This is definitely one of the competitions where Shved's suggestion in the other thread would help a lot though...

I was looking through the trophies and I found it funny how mariusz_pol won two Fish trophies.

Randomness aside...sent! :)
