I'll subscribe but if they show McEnroe on it AT ALL, I'll cancel my subscription immediately .

I'm joking, but I do hope that they give the women more coverage than the men. Try and try as I may, I just can't get into the men's game.

Randy H, or any other Canadians ... do you think we will be able to get the channel? Or do you think that people living in BC will be able to get it?

rated,

I really hope so! lol...I'd be surprised if it was included in regular cable, I'm assuming that it'll probably be one of those stations we could probably get through satellite like WTSN or something, which I know you can get on satellite. I'm *hoping* maybe they'll add it as a specialty channel for cable though like they have done with the Golf Channel, Comedy Network, etc. I don't want to get my hopes too high, but hopefully we Canucks will get some good luck with the tennis coverage!

Thanx a lot for the link VTennisA

rated_next and Randy H,

As you know that I am Canadian as well, I sent an e-mail today to my local cable provider Shaw in B.C. to find out if it's planning to adding The Tennis Channel to its programming lineup. I will get a reply within 2 business days! I will let you know when I receive it. I am sure it's too early to call and they will probably say that they have not planned on adding this channel or something.

I am afraid that this channel will have more ATP coverage than WTA (Look at the front page of the Tennis Channel website, it doesn't look promising with a photo of three men cheering). So, if the channel would be available to Shaw programming lineup, I will subscribe it for 6 months and see if it's fair to show women tennis enough. If I am satisified, I will keep it. If not, I will cancel the subscription and purchase the Shaw digital cable so that I will use and watch WTSN (it's very good that it's showing international WTA matches) and Canada ESPN.

Fingers crossed!

Hey Sharky,

Thanx a lot, looking forward to finding out more news on it! Hope that WTA coverage is equal to the ATP stuff!

WTA events:
Acura Classic, La Costa, CA - past champs: Graf, Venus Williams, Davenport

Bausch & Lomb, Amelia Island, FL - past champs: Navratilova, Sabatini, Seles

Bank of the West Classic, Stanford, CA - past champs: King, Evert, Hingis

Source

This website was launched 2 weeks ago with this programming already in place. With the launch of the network almost a year away, I think they might be able to add significantly to that list.

Also, read the bios on the three guys in the picture:

Bellamy
Biondi
Meister

I will look into linking directly to wtaworld. I have the power to do whatever I want on the site, but my best interests lie in doing what Steve wants! I'm sure he will be interested in promoting the WTA - it's tennis, and Steve eats, drinks and thinks tennis, regardless of who's playing it.

Encourage all of your friends to contact their cable or satellite provider and kindly demand the inclusion of TTC in their lineup. the more requsts they get the more likely they will respond.

Regards,

Ruusvuu

Thanks for the link. I've already asked my cable company about coverage in my area and so far have heard NOTHING. I gave them several weeks so I guess it's time to try again!

OK Randy H and rated_next,

I got a reply from my local cable provider today. When I sent them my e-mail regarding TTC, I gave them the address of TTC website. So, I am sure they will be looking at it. Anyway, Here is the reply:

Thank you for contacting Shaw Eservice.

Shaw has recently introduced 31 new digital channels; however, the Tennis Channel is currently not one of them. We certainly will be looking to introduce additional channels in the very near future. Once we will be able to provide additional channels, we will definitely let our customer know. If you have any further questions, please call our business office.

We hope this information has been useful to you.
Please feel free to contact us if you need further assistance or visit our website.

Thank you for choosing Shaw!

Victor K.

rated_next,

As for your questions about the cost of WTSN (www.wtsn.ca). It depends which province you live. If you live here in BC, I would be able to give you the details about the cost of WTSN.

In my case, when or if TTC is to be added to my local cable provider's programming lineup, I am hoping it will be in a digital cable package since the package will include the channels of WTSN, TTC, Fox Sports and ESPN Canada that would be showing tennis coverage. It would be great for us, the Canadians!!!

Right now, WTSN is best for showing womens' sports. The most popular sport for womens's is tennis obviously. I have looked up the schedule from time to time. Almost every day, they are showing taped tennis matches internationally that were played this year. They even showed matches from Waston's Water Challenge (last January) a while ago. That was amazing!

I wonder if TTC will be showing matches in USA only or internationally? Anyone know?

Meister said that programming, which will include airing the early rounds of tournaments that currently aren’t broadcast, is expected to be split up as follows: 40 percent tournament coverage, 40 percent instruction and 20 percent tennis news.
