Re: The Official Schedule Ranting Thread!

C1?
Both SFs in men's and women's should be on CC. Although considering at the Olympics a medal in doubles means no less than a medal in singles then I suppose I can understand.

C1 for the Maria's was NID really.

I don't like how in all likelihood, Bravo won't show much of the Maria's in favor of Serena... then again doubles will likely finish before Fed's match but Fed >pova here so streams it is lol.

I don't think it's fair that the women's semis have been pitted against one another. If the Sharapova-Kirilenko match has to be on Court 1 then they could've put them on first to minimalise any overlapping of the semis, or at least rearranged it in some way so people have the chance to see one without missing the other.

50% chance of rain Friday. If it rains at all, they'd better postpone the doubles and move Maria vs. Maria to CC, or at the very least put the singles first if there's a rain delay.

Re: The Official Schedule Ranting Thread!

They actually put the two semi-finals against each other.:fiery: This makes it impossible to fully enjoy each match in its entirety. And to think... there are some people on this board that have spent the entire week telling me TV ratings, marketability and scheduling really doesn''t matter.

I rest my case.

Yes... I guess it really is possible that Maria Kirilenko could make it all the way to finals and not have one match on TV.

Re: The Official Schedule Ranting Thread!

That's really weird. 3 SFs on CC, but the 4th one is on C1 and instead they put a boring doubles match.
Brits...
Kiri has doubles also, so I think they wanted them both to start relatively the same time (but not really with them second) so neither has the advantage. But when it starts raining out, and Kiri can't play her match will she get the proper rest time before doubles?

Re: The Official Schedule Ranting Thread!

Honest question?

How are times and court scheduling determined? Who does it? Is there any criteria that is used?

As I have documented at length, I have not understood the scheduling on the WTA side for even one day. We routinely have the wrong people at the wrong courts and we do not maximize our opportunity to expand the game. We shun are marketable players, and promote other players when there is overwhelming objective evidence that it is not in the best interest of the sport to do so. TV appearances dry up. Ratings fall. Popularity wanes.

In a way what is happing tomorrow is so symbolic of this entire tournament.

So exactly how does this process work?

I wonder that too. It makes no sense why Serena didn't play first and she has doubles one match later.

and Kirilenko doesnt
