I was there yesterday too! It was so awesome to watch Emma in person.

Last time I watched Emma was Nottingham 2022 when she retired in the first set against Golubic. I can now confirm I’m not her unlucky charm!

Watching Katie followed by Emma was really interesting and I couldn’t help making comparisons although of course it’s all very subjective. I like and support Katie who seems like a lovely person but IMO Emma plays with so much more intensity, dynamism and flair and she’s so good in the key moments. She has so much court presence and the crowd were totally enraptured. People really like watching her play!

The third match was interesting too. Sramkova played well but she was erratic at times and her serve wasn’t reliable. Krejcikova was clearly the better player - her forehand is awesome - but she was rusty and made so many UEs. It will be an interesting match on Thursday - she hits a heavier ball than Bucsa and plays more aggressively. I think Emma will win but it could go either way.
I agree, I think when you put them side by side the difference between them is quite clear. Katie is a good, solid player who plays some nice tennis and can be pretty good at getting through difficult parts of a match emotionally. Emma is the next level and has elite-caliber intensity.

Muchova has a left wrist injury so is playing using a one-handed backhand. This is usually a slice, which she has always played one-handed, but occasionally she tries a topspin. She also tries to run around and hit a forehand if possible.

Very interesting to see her try to compete with this handicap. Muchova is currently up a break against Maria.

Navarro saves a match point and takes the 2nd set tiebreak to even this up...maybe even start to get her season back on track. It's a battle.

BHM was a mini break up before the crowd member fainted and they waited for the medics - she didn’t win another point after that including serving two double faults. A lucky break for Navarro that’s for sure as BHM was the better player in that set and looked all set to win it

One of y'all attending Emma's R2 match be prepared to faint, in case Emma is about to lose the match. The medical break should stop the opponent's momentum. You don't even have to pretend to faint, with the roller coaster matches Emma likes to put out, the blood will leave your head a few times in the match 😄
