Wait, wait...Nathalie is butcher than Jana ? :help: I love Jana to death but she walks like a sailor:p
Nathalie's behavior in that final was less than feminine. She was a pain in the butt to the linesman in general, so the linesfolks gave a bad call that went against her in that second set.

well, she's straight with the lord.... which is uh, convenient for his kind of thing; saying no to sex is no longer an issue, so i suppose at that point you can say you're anything you want to be.
I've tried to be straight with the Lord, but He never answers when I call and never responds to my text messages or e-mails...

Hey kids- just wanted to surface again after being under water for a long while. I have a personal history of being a homosexual in tennis, but lately I've not been able to just get out there, and with the sweltering heat we're having in the Northeast USA this summer, I'm still afraid the mascara might get ugly. Nobody wants to play a racoon- they always have a mask on and it's just too difficult to read their mental state. They also have a tendency to raid the trash cans around the court and bring all sorts of flotsam and jestam on court so that when you change sides, you have to clean up the debris. So how is everybody?
On subject, I can't ever remember being in the closet, so when I got so excited with BJK/Riggs outcome (with whole family watching), I guess that was the only "coming out" of sorts with the family. Dad (an Archie Bunker clone if there ever was one) just kept staring at me the whole time!
Good to be back, and am hoping to get into the gymn to prep for the upcoming (and hopefully cooler) indoor season this Fall. By the way, did anyone go the Cologne this Summer?
Kisses- Jeffster

I guess you didn't catch that book "Lesbian Nuns" :p If Andrea is indeed trying to fight her urges toward women, an all-female enclave is hardly the place to go. Maybe she's not really trying that hard.:p

Came across an interesting tidbit in Edith Wilson's book, Love Game.

Coco Gentien is seemingly more or less "outing" Elizabeth Ryan in writing this about her:

She as always accompanied by a friend even more masculine than she was, the Irish croquet champion, Florence Walkerlegh, who looked like a kind of enormous turkey.
Coco was a great friend of Suzanne Lenglen who witnessed a great amount of early tennis history. His aunt was the early champion Kate Gillou-Fenwick. His mother Antoinette Gillou-Gentein was also a player of note. It was well established that Antoinette was, at least in her later years, a lesbian. Coco himself was well known for being gay. A popular theory was that Papa Lenglen surrounded Suzanne with "safe" male friends who would not distract her from tennis!

Hi Craig!

I don't know if there are any gay guys on the ATP. They always get those gorgeous women( ) and are seen with them everywhere.

Wade is a lesbian? I am completely out-of-date!
There definetely were back then. Brian Vahaley came out publicly and Jan-Michael Gambill posted pictures with his boyfriend which didn't leave any doubts

There is a
book scheduled for publication next year on Alice Marble. Is the research related to that?
That' the one Wolbo!

I am quite hopeful that it will prove to be a very good biography. My impression is the book is well researched. It appears there will be a lot about how she helped Althea Gibson in 1950. The author has written a previous book about sports and is familiar with tennis. That's a big plus when so many tennis bios are written by those not familiar with the sport.

Roan really did a lot of leg work in 2004-the same year Alfra Jeffster and I interviewed Pauline Betz. I also spoke to Louise Brough over the phone about 3 times. Neither of Roan nor I believe Joe Crowley even existed. Our working theory is that Alice created him to mark herself as straight.

The whole spy story also strikes me as ludicrous. I'd be happy for Roan and I to be proven wrong about any of our theories, but until there is proof I retain my doubts.
