The Bill of No Rights

We, the sensible of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid any more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt-ridden delusional, and other liberal, commie, pinko bed wetters.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that a whole lot of people were confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim that they require a Bill of No Rights.

Article 1.
You do not have the right to a new car, big-screen color TV or any other form of wealth.

More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

Article 2.
You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

Article 3.
You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all of your relatives independently wealthy.

Article 4.
You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

Article 5.
You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care. Besides, If the government were to try to guarantee you health care, that means it would have to force someone else to drop whatever he's doing and provide it for you, in addition to providing it for his own family and doing everything else he needs to survive. That would be a pretty serious hit on HIS rights.

Article 6.
You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and kill you.

Article 7.
You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big-screen color TV or a life of leisure.

Article 8.
You do not have the right to demand that our children risk their lives in foreign wars to soothe your aching conscience. We hate oppressive governments and won't lift a finger to stop you from going to fight if you'd like. However, we do not enjoy parenting the entire world and do not want to spend so much of our time battling each and every little tyrant with a military uniform and a funny hat.

Article 9.
You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have one, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities in education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

Article 10.
You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to pursue happiness -- which, by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an overabundance of idiotic laws created by those around you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

Duh, I DO have the right 2B (somewhat) protected from communicable diseases that would undoubtedly be spread by people who should be in hospitals on IV antibiotic or antiviral drugs, but could never afford it on their own. (Enlightened self interest, JiT)? Or should I pray to your Lord and Saviour that I'm not infected?

Couldn't hurt!

I love how you pick the one aspect of the list that I posted(just for fun, BTW, though it does make a lot of sense) at which you can loftily sneer while simultaneously donning your faux societally benificent patronly mantle. :haha:

Oy vey!

OK. But the rest of us have a right for others NOT 2B driving cars that belong on a scrap heap, insread of breaking down frequently on the roads we pay to use, and poisoning us with excessive pollution.

Agreed, but that obligates the rest of neither to replace it with a newer model nor to pay the cost of bringing said heap into EPA compliance. :)

Bill of No Rights, not to be confused with Bill Jean of King.

Well you'll have the place all to yourselves pretty soon, as your immigration people shove innocent tourists in shackles and then deport them for no good reason (documentary on British TV tonight). Ibiza here we come !!

There's a big difference between free healthcare and paying around $700 per month for it for one person. Also, the insurance companies are allowed to collectively bargain and pretty much charge whatever they want, Federal law is all in favor of them. They are superwealty and gouging the public. The public is getting screwed, the doctors are getting screwed, and the patients are getting screwed. It's these rat-bastard, rip-off insurance companies, and these companies have this power thanks to the government! I'm not expecting a free ride on health care, but I don't think I ought to be paying this month to mammoth insurance companies, either.

We need Neely back at SAG, she negotiated a really good health care plan.

Well,I would agree to an extent.Insurance companies are to blame for much of the health care woes in our country. However,I would not go so far as to say that doctors are being screwed.I think that the average pension of $400,000 is a pretty fair sum.Wouldn't you?
All I know is that over 40 million americans are uninsured;I being one;I think that until someone really bucks the present political, corporate order, there is not going to be any relief for the average working American.

Spare everyone your sudden conversion away from the far right, please! You buy into all the John Birch Society kind of crap, but when its YOU who are behind the 8-ball due to dog-eat-dog capitalism (aka Social Darwinism) THEN legislation might actually help, in your view!

There's not many doctors that make $400,000 a year who provide real health care. Sure, plastic surgeons and dermatologists make a fortune, but that is largely elective procedures where people pay out of pocket. Sure, plastic surgeons do non-elective stuff, but it's not $400,000 for those that do non-elective stuff. I think radiologists make huge money and do real health-care, and probably some types of surgeons, but most make far less than $400,000. They did go to school for 8 plus years, I don't begrudge a doctor from making the dough.

Rather strange, coming from a total supporter of the Iraq War. (And, As Per Post above, you thought, re. the right to health care: "I love how you pick the one aspect of the list that I posted...." No JiT, you're a better debater than most Holy Rollers, but I clean your clock anyhow. (Because I think for myself, I guess).

(I never said conservatives were Evil. Even you, dear JiT, are merely ignorant). Now on to Article 3.

THIS "liberal, commie, pinko bed wetter" believes you DO have a right 2B Free From harm caused by products containing dangers that a reasonable person could not have forseen. If you violate that right, you will = OWNED by a currently practicing John Edwards. :p

Man, you're transparent, Rog! You know damn well what my geo-political views are and that I tend toward isolationism even though, yes, I supported the Iraq war. How convenient of you to rmember that fact, but OMIT the fact that I long ago declared that it was because WE were largely responsible for the Saddam mess in the first place, and that it seemed only fitting that Bush II clean up Daddy's mess! You get an extra  for THAT typical lefty spin !

BTW, hope ya didn't strain yerself blowin' your horn there! :p
