Who has the best hands on the tour? Everyone has their own idea. I would like people to post EXAMPLES of how good a player's control is, to SHOW how good their control is. I'm going to set the bar pretty high.

My choice is Serena Williams.

My example is match point, Williams v Henin, Sanex Champs 2001. Serena played the balls SIX times with a broken string. Three from the baseline (including the shot that broke the string), two volleys, then a leaping backhand volley for the winner. One shot might be luck. If you can play the ball six times at match point with a broken string, and WIN, you've got unbelievable racquet.

Then I must kiss my racquets <font size=1>(cause I've won "a lot" of points with a broken string lol)</font>

Ai Sugiyama! <br />no-one has quicker refexes .... fire balls at her 100km an hour and she blocks them right back...<br />best hands on the tour because of quickest reflexes on the tour ... lightning fast! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <br />Doubles in Aus open with Arendt, Davenport/Morariu blasting shots at her from the baseline, Ai stands her ground and hits a short angle after wrongfooting Davenport - absolute brilliance! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

Monica doesn't have quick reflexes up at the net but I think she has some of the best hands on tour, especially the way she hits from the baseline. she has so much pace with control, can take the ball so early, and she has a pretty effective drop shot.

Anna has some good hands, a lot of feel for the ball, esp evident up at net and on the drop shot.

Hingis cause of her amazing half volleys and the amazing drop shots she hits!

Venus because she has the ability to hit fantastic stretch volleys and because of her drop volleys and drop shops!

Natasha Zvereva had the best hands on tour by a long long way.

Martina Hingis has the best hands now.<br />

both of them can play with a "spade" , aomething that others can only dream of.

Another player with "magic hands" is Roberta Vinci , she'll make quick progress up ranks soon and is already a big force in doubles.

Hingis.

All the suggestions are good. Vixen, ur absolutely right...Ai has great hands and great reflexes.

Natasha had beautiful touch, best doubles player of our time IMO. Always loved watching her play!

Most, or maybe all, players can be put in this thread at some point, but its only a select few that u can really say have consistently 'great hands'.

Martina Hingis for sure, but also Lindsay Davenport, though I have no examples at hand for you! Just watch her at net for yourself, and you will see what I mean! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/hearts.gif" border="0" alt="[Hearts]" /> <img src="graemlins/kiss.gif" border="0" alt="[Kiss]" />

Martina Hingis, but surprisingly Lindsay Davenport is not far off. It's amazing that Lindsay such a powerful player can have great hands that she has.

Natasha Zvereva and Jana Novotna had the best hands I've ever seen. Martina Hingis has the best hands of all those currently around, but the best example of a current player's hands may seem slightly odd: Anna Kournikova.

Against Maria Alejandra Vento at Wimbledon, I believe in 1999, she'd got Vento way off court with a power forehand; she only had to tap the volley into a completely open court to win the point. But she put this incredible slice on it for the most exquisite drop-volley I've ever seen - the ball literally died on the grass. Amazing - the girl's definitely got them aesthetic sensibilities going on <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Martina Hingis has great hands. Now all she needs is a little more pace.

Venus has great control for a power player even when she is on the run she places the ball well with power. Remember at the USO she over ran the ball and had to lean back and hit the ball. She still hit it in the right place with her foot up in the air, and won the point.

LINDSAY HAS THE BEST HANDS AMONG ALL OF THEM. WHY???????

Come on!!!! shes a powerful player with a great touch of raquet ball connection which seems to be effortless and a great soft volley when needed.

She just does'nt have a GOOD FEET thus proving with slow movement. but still with the best hand, she manage to be winning and becoming number ONE.

Second would be Monica Seles, with power and pacing also.

Third would be Martina Hingis, though she dont know how to generate powers with her hand.

Anna is very good.<br />Lindsay does have nice touch at the net .... but she usually doesn't ever need to approach the net so its rarely seen. <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
