Which of these players will have the #4 ranking at OZ?

Which of these players will have the #4 ranking at RG?

52 Week rank

03 4586 M.HINGIS

05 3456 K.CLIJSTERS
06 2899 J.HENIN
07 2711 A.MAURESMO
09 2704 J.DOKIC
08 2672 M.SELES
10 2501 S.WILLIAMS

2001 Rank

04 3946 M.HINGIS
05 3070 K.CLIJSTERS
06 2889 J.HENIN
07 2759 J.DOKIC
08 2711 A.MAURESMO
09 2501 S.WILLIAMS
10 2306 M.SELES

Not that I'm necessarily conceding the top three spots, but 2002 will open with Capriati, Davenport and Williams in the top three spots. Which leaves a much coveted #4 seed at OZ up for grabs. (Venus may not play of course, but she showed up clearly ill last year, so she'll show up this year. She won't WIN, but she'll show up.)

Looks like about 3500 points tobe #4 by OZ, 4000 for RG. Anyone care to prophesyze?

Martina Hingis should be the #4 seed at AO. Kim would have to win Munich and take out Davenport and Capriati and lots more highly ranked players plus probably win an even the first week of the season. But she's playing Hopman Cup, so she won't play an event the first week. I think Martina won only 600+ points for her win last year. So unless Martina pulls out of AO, she should be the #4 seed.

Kim will have a shot for #4, definitely after the Australian. Martina had to defend Sydney and Melbourne finals. While Kim has 2rd Sydney and 4rd Melbourne.

GO KIM #4!

A) all you had to do was look at Venus in her first round match to know she wasn't well. She was bloated, her skin was patchy and off-color, she didn't even move well. Frankly, I thought her making the semis was a minor miracle.

B) I don't lnow if she'll play or not. Which is what I said.

C) She hasn't played since the USOpen, and rarely plays tuneups before OZ. Sure she could change her pattern, but until she does, I'll go with what she normally does. And as good as Venus is, I don't think she can win OZ after a four month layoff and a tuneup. Nothing against Venus, but Jenn, Lindsay and Serena are just to good to let an under-prepared Venus cakewalk to the title.

If Venus wins OZ, I'll be the guy turning cartwheels down Broadway. But right now, the odds on that look mighty thin.

n2sWmS, you're going to get very, very tired. Because I'm going to keep posting and I don't much care how you feel about it.

Kim will be #4, once her OZ points are added but not before. Based on my memory of Jelena Dokic's January results, I think Martina could find herself #6 by March.

How disappointing that #4 at OZ isn't really in dispute. Could have been fun. RG is so far away, Silvia Farina-Elia could be #4 by then. Oh well.
