I've already met Santoro in Thailand Open 2003. Can't wait to watch Amelie and Fabrice playing in Perth. It's great having chance to meet Amelie in person.

France clinch tight Cup match
5 January 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unseeded France clinched a thrilling mixed doubles match to upset fourth-seeded Russia in the $1-million ITF Hyundai Hopman Cup mixed teams tournament played at Perth’s Burswood Dome tonight. (Monday).

French pair Fabrice Santoro and Amelie Mauresmo won the mixed 6-3, 6-4 after the singles rubbers had been split.

World No. 4 Mauresmo clinched the opening rubber 6-2, 7-6 against Anastasia Myskina, with the tiebreaker going seven points to two.

Russia’s former world No. 1 Marat Safin balanced up the match with a blistering 6-3, 6-3 win over Fabrice Santoro, ending a streak that has seen just one win by the Russian in eight clashes.

The mixed was a hard-fought affair, with the French finally remaining cool in the second set crisis, frittering away two match points on Safin’s service before Santoro served it out to win the Tie.

 Linnie it was Amélie who held her serve to love late on in the second!
