Tennis Tipping #44a - Zhuhai

What is Tennis Tipping?

In the game, participants pick the winners of all main draw matches and are placed in a knock-out system. That means each participant plays a different participant and whoever predicted the winner of most matches correctly, moves on to the next round. The same applies for doubles, but you're in a team format and your scores are combined.

Note:
- In case of a tie, new SR/TB rules (2017) will decide who moves on to the next round.
New SR/TB rules: TB/SR Rules 2017 (determining the winner) - TennisForum.com

- If players are replaced by a lucky loser after the start of Tennis Tipping, these matches will be cancelled.

How to Sign-Up:

Only invited players can participate in this tournament

More information: Tennis Tipping General Rules 2017 | Changes in Red | Check pages 1-5 - TennisForum.com

How to send in picks:

Picks can be sent in as soon as the draws are ready. Remember, you pick a winner inevery match! Picks should be sent by PM, so that your opponent does not know your picks. Picks should be titled: [TT: Zhuhai - #day]. Picks can be sent in anytime until the beginning of play each day. If you are in singles and doubles then you can use different picks for each if you want to. For doubles, you still tip the WTA singles matches, not the doubles! No changes can be made after the play has started.

You have to send picks before play starts, late picks won't be accepted!

Good Luck, your manager DJDVD.

Sorry RoyalFencer, unlucky for you to lose on a retirement, those dead rubbers are just unpredictable
Great end of the season for me, finishing here with another good result, enough motivation to continue in 2018 now!

And about the rule, it´s not a new rule, I added it to the rule page years ago (but the rule was there before already, I just made a written rule out of it), even created a seperate rules page for RR events, so it´s really easy to check the rules there, if you don´t like the rule, suggest a change but those discussions in here now are just pointless...
Re: Tennis Tipping #44a - Zhuhai - OOP of Saturday in post #6/116 - Deadline 9:30 AM

@Randy
As I said above a board member should ensure that the rules are used as they are written, so you can't force anyone to not send so you can go to final (by the same rule) because you do not like some rule. I'm playing this game for six years and it never happened that I didn't send mine picks, same as my partner, I will not do it for you.

I never broke the rules, good or bad I always respect them, does not matter whether I win or lose because of them. Tomorrow, if the rules change, I will follow new rules, even if I don't agree with them, I am mature enough to understand that it must be like that.

If board thinks rule is silly why they didn't change it? They had opportunity last off-season. Why you didn't change it?

If this happened to me, I would say "it's a silly rule, but it's a rule and you deserve to win, congrats and good luck in the next round", wouldn't make drama.

Only losers want to win with wo, real champions prefer to win the match.

Edit: deleted all of it because you're not even understanding that I never tried to go against the ruling, so I'm done wasting my time

Also can you send me the updated Fed cup rankings that you said you'd keep doing. I need them :]

Well you, Randall, and David all said in this thread you don't see the sense in the rule, hence it doesn't make sense that Igorcheat is in SF. :rolls:

Adey also had nothering to say on it earlier when that pressed thing tried to call on him for backup. I guess I shouldn't have said the whole board, I don't know what Doug thinks.
one does not imply the other here Greg

we do agree that the rule itself is not the best, but we also agreed that we are not changing anything mid-tournament cuz there is a rule. Snap board decisions are reserved for cases when the situation is not covered by the rules

Well I didn't say anything on it because as was pointed out - it's actually in the rules as they stand at the moment.

I don't see how it doesn't imply that, but ok. Moving on...

I'm aware of that.

Quite a shame that Sloane didn't care today, it's never nice to lose a match by retirement. Congrats to our opponents and good luck in the final. Also good luck to Igorche and his partner.

It's also nice to see my good old friend Michi being one of the singles finalists..

As this is my last tournament of the year I would like to thank everyone who gave his/her best to make this game enjoyable, especially the managers and board members but also the players. Special mention to my favourite manager David..:worship:

And last but not least a big thank you to my partner Phil=), the best partner I've had so far in this game. This was my best doubles season and it was mainly because of your great picking..

See you next year..:wavey:

Re: Tennis Tipping #44a - Zhuhai - OOP of Saturday in post #6/116 - Deadline 9:30 AM

just woke up and see all these dramas involving our double match
@Demosthenes @Randy
Firstly, sorry that your team is not in the final. I really felt we have been so lucky to first get in as LL then win on TB with 2 retirements. But to suggest that we're not deserving is really uncalled for. It's not our faults Sander is not sending, it's not us who made the rule (in fact as Alen mentioned, even the real tour has this rule), and it's not our decision not to count retirements for TB or SR.

I admit if David didn't mention the rule in the thread, I wouldn't have known. But Igor (as former TT Board who understands the rule inside out) would have known and notified me. As much as I hate David tagging all those players to send and minimise my chance to get in single as ALT, I didn't complain because this is his management, he can do whatever he feels the right thing to do. I only blame @Michael! to do so well in Moscow and surpass me at the last minute to qualify :fiery:

Igor & I are long time double partner in this game, and many time in the past we're on the disadvantage end due to the rule in this game. I remember once in Rome double final many years ago, I thought we won the final, even the manager (lovely @Adrian.) already published we're the champion. Igor then quoted a rule (which most thought a bit unfair at that time, and I am sure eventually changed) and we lost instead. You can read all in this thread

So please don't accuse Igor of cheating or someone with no shame.

As for the rule, I am with @SAISAI-GOAT, the first part makes sense, the second part doesn't. For RR, we can threat the RR round as if it's qualifying and from SF onwards the MD. Like normal rule, if someone doesn't send in R1 (in this case the SF), they will be replaced by LL. But to have the finalist replaced by losing SF, it's a bit hard to understand the reason behind it.

Again, I am truly sorry this happens to you @Demosthenes @Randy Hopefully no hard feeling from this. After all this is just a game, and I am sure we all have a more important things to deal with in real life.

I wanted to make sure to have at least one thing to be happy about with my pick(either Görges winning or a TT lead after Day 1), so it´s Görges winning and I already lost my final, congrats ianb29, well done, great end of the 2017 season for you! :worship: :yeah:

I will make my final post in here when the finals are officially over!

:hearts: Don't be so complimentary. I guess we equally saved each others asses this year with some really solid picking. Thanks for always being a great partner and also being so reliable. Can't wait for 2018

And of course thanks to all the managers for giving the best efforts on a weekly Basis to make this game so enjoyable.

Great end of season for me, especially as a few weeks ago I didn’t think I’d make Zhuhai! :wow:

Sorry @Michael! pleased Goerges made the final for you! And thanks @DJDVD for great management as always :cheer:
