Excellent draw for Yevgeny I must say.
He has the best indoor record this season among all the 8 players.

So Agassi has confirmed to be playing now and there goes Haas' chances...

Go Yevgeny!

When I first found out the draw, I am feeling happy and confident for Yevgeny!! He is having a good draw!!! But never knows, the top players always have their best performance in big tennis events!!

With Goran injured himself at a shower, he is in doubt to play next week!! Tommy Haas will be the alternate to replace Goran. Is it destiny?? I always find Haas should be qualified for the Masters Cup event, he finished a very impressive ending season this year!! Although I'm very happy for Goran to win Wimbledon, but I don't think he should have the wildcard to enter the Masters Cup event without being in the Top 8!! Compare to Tommy, his overall result in 2001 is less impressive!!

Featured matches for the first 2 days:
12/11/01 (Monday)
1. Hewitt vs. Grosjean - Should have lots of interesting long rallies, since both of them are the kind of players that running fast and chasing every balls.

2. Agassi vs. Rafter - What can we say?? Just a brilliant battle!! Difficult to predict - their head-to-head record this year is 1-1, Agassi wins at AusOpen, Rafter wins at Wimbledon. Should be a long 5 sets match.

13/11/01 (Tuesday)
1. Kafelnikov vs. Ferrero - I was hoping this match-up so much!! Coz' they are my two favourites in the men's tennis, and I can't believe it's going to turn up!! Although they are both my favourites, I will favor Yevgeny to win as indoor event is his strongest tennis event!! Anyway, I hope both of them will up to Semis!!

2. Kuerten vs. Ivanisevic - If Goran going to perform his best sevice games, it will be a fast match with lots of aces!! It's hard to predict as Kuerten had a pretty poor ending season. If Tommy is going to replace Goran, I will favor Tommy over Kuerten!!

I am feeling very exciting for the Tennis Masters Cup next week!! Although I won't travel to Sydney, but the Australian commercial TV will broadcast the matches, and I will be sitting at home to tape all the matches!! Should be very interesting!!!

Finally, I just wanna cheer for Yevgeny and Juan Carlos!!

GO! Zhenya! GO!GO!
GO! Mosquito! GO!GO!

Bootom heavy indeed...
I'm sure Guga thanked his lucky stars when he saw that Agassi and Hewitt would have to crawl over each other, AND Rafter to even get to the semis.
His number one rankings is certaintly looking a little safer right about now.

As for the top half... I sincerely hope that Guga and Ferrero can crawl out of their slumps and make things a little interesting. However, I still think Yevgeny will make the semis. And if Guga and Ferrero can't string together a good match, then I expect Goran will join him there.

My question is, is it indoors RA hardcourts or indoors cement hardcourts? If it is RA, I am pretty sure Kafelnikov will qualify from the second group. RA is *his* surface. He has something like 22-2 record on it in Australia for last three years. Of course, Aggasii is a question mark, we don't know in what kind of form he is. Ditto Rafter. The draw is Top heavy only on paper. Out of 8 players in draw only 2 did anything serious indoors this year - Grosjean and Kafelnikov.

Yes, Yevgeny has a good draw since either Gustavo or Juan Carlos is playing well.

Good luck to
Gustavo Kuerten
Yevgeny Kafelnikov
Lleyton Hewitt
Patrick Rafter
and Sebastien Grosjean!!!!!

Answer for ys's question..

I got this info from Steve G's website.
The Sydney Dome was built to host the basketball for the 2000 Olympic games. Holds 40,000. Great venue. Totally indoors and the surface is to be rebound ace (not sure if indoor rebound ace plays different to outdoor), but im guess it would a little without the sun's heat blazing down on it. Whether that would make a huge difference i dont know, but talk already there is about balls being to be quick and may skid quite a bit.
Everything seems to be perfect for Yevgeny's chances.... The matches will be shown in Stars Sports Asia for Asian viewers, yeah!

Go Zhenya!
