Since Eurosport doesn't broadcast before 2230 CET in Germany, I had no chance to watch the match against Mauresmo live on TV, but followed live scores at the tourney website.

What sticked out of the stats was the significant number of times Kirilenko charged the net. Even more interesting, she made 15 points out of 20 net points !!!

The question: Despite 7 Double Faults, is Kirilenko - contrary to the rest of the Russians ( maybe with the exceptions of Kournikova and Likhovtseva ) - a player with a game style of a developing serve & volleyer ? Does she like to come in on the net to finish off the points ?

She's a shotmaker. She has a very small frame and is only 16. I would imagine she has all the shots in the book and she likes to come in when there's a chance. Her serve needs a lot of work. She's got very good placement as well.
