Self-confidence? I hate my teeth and hardly smile because of it. So if they were perfect white teeth my life would be enhanced. At least I think it would. People say my teeth are just fine and it's all in my head but... I hate them.MrsTheBoiledEgg said:Perhaps I'm silly but tell my why is that important and how would perfect white teeth enhance your life?

Same reason I brush my hair in the morning, wear matching shoes, get a nice haircut, put on make-up, etc.MrsTheBoiledEgg said:Perhaps I'm silly but tell my why is that important
Well, you know, this is the big question. As everything else, like plastic surgery, building up his body, wearing coloured contact lenses, etc. ; whitening his teeth is something you do to increase your physical appearance, because this is important for you. When you put all those little things together, this can change your life if this helps you to have more confidence and feel better about yourself. Self perception is important, believe me. I’ve feel bad about myself for a very long time and this can really influence your life. In fact, it’s a matter of choice and of what’s important for you…MrsTheBoiledEgg said:I know it's an American thing and most of the Americans I've met told me that it is very important to have white (or better ultra-white) teeth. I just wanted to hear from people how whitening could change their lives because it is hard for me to imagine that it actually can have a major impact.
As Tine said, I prefer natural look. Whitening does not make teeth healthier. On the contrary, it could damage the tooth enamel which makes the process even less reasonable.
Just an IMHO from a non-American
