Ananova - Top seed Tamarine Tanasugarn advanced to the quarter-finals of the Canberra Women's Classic, beating Denis Chladkova 6-4 6-3.
Sixth seed Patty Schnyder is also through, after defeating Eleni Daniilidou by the same score.
In the upset of the day, Emilie Loit beat Elena Likhovtseva, the fifth seed, 6-4 6-3.
In other matches, Petra Mandula beat Evie Dominikovic 6-7 7-6 6-3 and Anna Smashnova defeated Bryanne Stewart 7-6 6-0.
Dominikovic served for the match at 5-4 in the second set and also held a 3-0 lead in the decider.
Mandula now takes on Amanda Grahame in the quarter-finals.
Both Grahame and Stewart have both been granted wildcards into the Australian Open.
Smashnova, who won her third WTA title in Auckland last week, faces Loit in the quarter-finals.
