It will be interesting to see how many players are prepared to sit and stare at a wall for 14 days over getting a simple vaccination. There will be no special dispensation to get out to train this time. They may be wasting their time however...vaccination will still be required for anyone participating in the Australian Open.

The game of chicken will probably continue right up until the AO draw is made.

Imagine Novak arriving at the NSW-Victoria border in his armored limousine, with Dan Andrews waiting there to meet him. We might get an internationally televised showdown.

That’s a lot of tournaments, genuinely becoming an Australian month of tennis of late since atp cup, pandemic and China. Doha/Pune (atp) later in calendar, Hobart/Auckland/Shenzhen not on, all mainland right now.

Nice to have wta Sydney back (men’s not so much).

You really are setting yourself up to be massively disappointed. You know that?

Real life is not some Hollywood Blockbuster. Prepare to be severely disappointed.

It took me a while to figure what what they were trying to do. They prioritized the color scheme in this graphic. Each color represents a different Australian state, possibly with different quarantine/immigration requirements.

They also tried to be disability-friendly by including the wheelchair events, which seems to run across weeks. This added to the chronological confusion as they then had to write out explicit dates (as opposed to just Week 1, 2, etc.)
